EDIT:
I'm sorry i was thinking abandonware is ok.
Ok i read the rules.

I cannot answer your PM, because i don't have enough posts.
So i try to answering here.
I'm sure, that it's not possible to convert the Retail version to the Mystique version.
It's to 99% different, because it uses PS1 files.

No worries, anakin94! Thanks for replying. 😀

That was a really awesome comparison 😀

The other bundled game also shows some differences compared to the regular retail release.

I know the Mystique has a great picture quality, it's a nice card for 3dfx combination.
It's also interesting how Direct3D games looks on it and you know which card is running. 😉

Hello, exactly and for one of my 3dfx retro systems this shall be the 2D card. My problem with DD2 is solved, I found the bundle disc of the matrox card and will try out in the next few days.

Thank you guys!

Thank you for the shots.
At first i was thinking that is a different map, but it's amazing that they replaced the complete textures of the ground and the sky.
So we have in the Mystique version a desert. 😁
It looks like that the color depth of the textures are reduced, because the house textures are less saturated.
Also the sky looks like a 16 color texture.
Do you noticed any sound differences, or missing things?

@tape85
Nice to hear that, have fun!

The Screamer II patch is nice - pretty curious to try that one!

Don't forget Screamer Rally that one doesn't even need a patch.
Screen run's at 37.8khz/85hz though which alot of modern screens don't like. Found that out the hard way

Interesting - I only use CRTs with the "old stuff" so it should work out fine. Rally has it built in... totally forgot about that. We used to play the Screamer series on LAN. "Best" one was Ignition.

If you have a CRT you'll be fine. The MSI Screamer games was reason I ended up getting one as well 😉

Big Red Racing was our dos LAN game, massive air and hitting each other is always bit of fun between Doom and C&C/Warcraft games

Thank you for this thread. I actually test my matrox mystique-cards against some software. I do not use the Desktop shown above. I use a smaller one. I used it with my G2+/16MB PCI but that card died yesterday. Now I have to use my mystique cards. But I have one BIG!!! issue with the mystique-cards. Hardware-Scrolling is broken. With the G200 (G2+/16MB) everything was fine, but now I see tearing and stuttering. I have tested three different drivers, none of them offers stutterfree scrolling. I this a feature that was later implemented? I donÄt think so. Only one game works stutterfree, all others are broken.

Digging the software (latest) https://web.archive.org/web/20000817083321/ht … mos/patches.htm
But hopefully I will find a mirror. Still searching for marketing GFX/Wallpapers for the old Matrox-Cards like Mystique/Millenium and also G200/400

Should I make a new thread? I would be much more interested in EVERYTHING that works on mystique regardless if MSI, or D3D specially optimized settings for mystique.

Are there any mystique users here. I would like to know what driver are you using in win95 and what dx-version.
I just found out that only the very latest driver from 1999 provides vsync on mystique in win95 ddraw.

I'm using the Mystique 220 with the driver which is provided in the DirectX 6.1 package.
It should be similar to version 3.70.
I'm using this, because is has not the slowdown issue with Colin McRae Rally on the main menu.
The ,,README" on the game disc says, that driver version 3.82 works properly and newer ones have this issue.
For me i found out, that's not true.

I'm using Windows 98SE.

Ah ok, that's interesting. So you override the driver in the dx-setup but it's not recommended by the dx-installer.
How do you set the monitor frequencies. I have to lower them to 75hz and especially 640x400 to 70hz to get Jazz2 smooth.

not MSI but early D3D)> if you use DX61 you can play GTA2 in D3D mode. It runs excellent smooth and looks beautiful!
