So I decided to upgrade my trusty X38 based PC with an E8400 3.0Ghz Core2Duo running WinXP. 'Time for something with Win7. I researched all the latest chipsets and it seems the Q77 has (and will probably be the last) native PCI support.

I will be using a PCI sound card that has a wavetable header which allows for my Roland SCD-15 daughterboard to attach for MIDI wavetable. I want to still have hardware MIDI for DOSBox.

Can anyone see any problems with this course of action? Should I be looking at anything else?

Incidentally, for the best backwards compatibility possible, I still plan on running Win7 32-bit. I don't foresee needing more than 4GB RAM for any current application.
