Alright guys, been wanting to get this thing up and running for a long time now, but I have a few questions. Ideally I am wanting to run anything from say, 1992 to 2002, though mainly hovering around 96-00. Right now I have a system that I have put together -
Pentium 3 1ghz (if I knew the board specs, i'd underclock.)
PC Chips, don't remember the board off hand.
Riva TNT 2 Vanta 16mb
256mb RAM
6.4gb Quantum Fireball
ESS Audiodrive Soundcard (garbage)
I also have a Pentium II 266 but for some reason I cannot get it to post, I believe since it's a Gateway board I need a Gateway power supply since they had some weird pin out that only used their supplies? Anyway
My question is, Should I go with a Glide card, i.e. a Voodoo 3 or keep the TNT 2? I want to play older Glide supported games such as Janes F15 and Longbow 2, Nascar 2 etc. the TNT 2 doesn't support it, or can I run both cards?
Also, for best compatibility should I ditch that ESS for a Soundblaster? if so, which one would be recommended for best midi output as well as the support? - The ESS right now likes to play fine but in Dos or any other mode it's horrible. Also the Adlib supported games use the midi which sounds like crap. I.e. F117A Stealth 2.0 - the jet noise is a single keyboard key press, machine gun is some strange sound effect etc. Nothing like it sounded on my old 486 in 1994.
If anyone can shed some light for me and help me live my dream of having a good system, please respond and thanks for your input!
