Can any one assist me with analyzing whats wrong with one of mine Barracuda?
I have bought an Dell Optiplex GX1 computer with an Adaptec 2940 controller and two Seagate ST32550W SCSI 68pin hardrives.

One of them reports an 02h error, the other one functions flawlessly.
Bot start up and spin emitting the same amount of sound and noise, there is no different sound from the one thats halted to indicate mechanical damage.
They both also respond (mechanically) at the same time, but the drive thats not responding seems to have suffered heat (air expansion) damage?

Some pictures (~5MB):

ST32550W #01
ST32550W #02
ST32550W #03

I have even enabled Terminator. SCSI card was set to SCSI ID 7 and its internal Terminator to Automatic. I have enabled drive built in terminator and terminator power.

Jumpering is 100% OK
Ive followed the manual of the hard drive and the Adaptec controller card.

I haven't tried swapping the electronics on the hard drive, but i guess i could.

What do you mean by died, did you run them when they were cold? from outide to home temp.
This can cause condensation and harddisk platter do not like.

Maybe they will be ok after some time again, or maybe swap over the controllers.
Is your psu ok, not too high voltages?

It stopped responding just like the other one.
These hard drives are probably old. One of them clearly suffered heat damage.

In my room there is always fresh air from out side, i keep my windows open.
I will try them out again pretty soon.
