I wanted to have the VRM stay original, and this way i can mount in two different ways depending on how much room for me there is in the case.
And the VRM is much more easy to remove and change the voltage settings.

I have neither KBC, i think i have a WT62P2 IC see datasheet.

I think no ps2 support for me.

ok - success! working ps2 port on my board
Pinout is
Data
Clock
GND
NC
VC

-> Version 4 in my tryouts. Maybe I made a mistake when trying out all the possible pinouts. Anyway, now its fine.
... now I need some more Cache - only 128k is installed - any suggestions where to get it?

horstmueller - excellent!

Could you upload a photo of your motherboard? Does it have Phoenix or AMI BIOS? Could you upload the BIOS image? Is there a section in the CMOS to enable or disable the PS/2 mouse? This information may be of some assistance in helping us get PS/2 mice working on any AMI BIOS motherboard. We've already gotten it working on any AWARD BIOS motherboard.

it is the latest phoenix bios i found for this board
PhoenixBios 4.04 PnP
-> V3.2j 12-11-96
Board Revision 2.1

no section to enable / disable ps2 mouse. It just gets detected at bootup

Photo comes later
... but currently there is the same revision on the german version of a well known online auction house with a picture ...

This is what Janoz wrote,

I got myself a ecs um8810paio rev2.0 with amibios.

Janoz, could you provide the AMIBIOS for this board?

Hello, I'm following with interest your discussion: just today I received the um8810paio rev. 2.0 and I did not know about this voltage regulator! Fortunately, along with the motherboard, the CPU is present, a Texas Instruments @80MHz, and the particular controller is present, model VR-102. I hope to try as soon as possible this configuration.

BIOS is AWARD (with the label "Neue Version UM8810PAIO Ver.1.10PH), on the chipset I read:

UMC
UM8881F
RC1503

And:

UMC
UM8886F
9504-BS
RA0649

Please let us have a copy of the award bios we are in need of it very bad.
We only have award version 1.0 for this board and it is too old.

Of course, I'll help the best I can - you have to have patience because I'm overwhelmed by my work (in this period I'm having more of it) - as soon as I start to work on it and test it I will help you! Does attached file is the utility to dump the bios?

The attached file is the 1.0 award bios version for the UM8810PAIO.
But i would like your 1.10 to add to my bios collection and i prefer to use some award bios instead of the phoenix that i have now.

You could dump the bios with uniflash.

nice work getting your ps2 mouse working horstmueller. I destroyed my um8810 so I picked up another one that has the VR-102 voltage module. I have yet to test this board thoroughly again but I will get around to it .....

I never got SCSI working with the UM8810. It hated my two Adaptec AHA-2940U2W Ultra2-LVD (Bios v2.00.0) cards but the board itself was stable and fast.
