I mean at least platform - core hardware being retro , because it define what purposes the PC can be used for.

I dont have any ""modern-based"" computer, I got a lot from old hardware and the freeware TurboC . 😁 even my HP Deskjet 500C still rocks . Over here in the third-world always was/is very hard to find good-quality hardware, PCCHIP is the most saled brand.

hmm... I just have my 200mmx machine at home, an identical at my office, a p4/GF6800GT build at the office and my PS1/pro stored... at the office 🤣
I could have another retroPC at home (most likely the p4 build) but due to space constrains I chose to have an Amiga1200 setup...

I have around 4 working systems, but would have the hardware for 20 if you count cases that is.
btw if i were to stop having the extra hardware without the use of it, it would be scrapped anyway.

One. I prefer to actually use it than having ten machines around with no real usage.

Me too, I dislike the idea of having a GA-5AX and a GF2 ti lying around in a box, I refuse!! 🤑

I really prefer to build it, and use it once in a while. Maybe here there will be somebody with its own personal computer museum?

I was afraid someone would ask this question some day 🤣. I have 8 complete functional systems and enough parts to likely build another 8 or more 😉

can't seem to throw anything out...

Yes, I'm with you, even after giving some parts away and recycling others and keeping the best components I still have too much 😜

I still use them turn by turn. Play different games in each.

Each system has a minimum of DOS 6.22 + Windows 3.1 installed.

Both the Pentium II and Pentium 133 have Windows 95c installed.

Usually these systems undergo many changes. Currently this is the most "stable" configuration I have, and do not intend to change them anymore.

The P4 sits on an Asus P4s533-VL. It's an mATX board Asus made for Sony's Vaio series. I got it cheap just to test out the universal AGP slot and P4 performance and ended up liking it quite a bit after I discovered how to unlock the full bios.

To unlock the bios remove the cmos battery for a little while then re-boot [pretty easy], or pull the ram/re-boot/replace the ram/re-booting also does the same. You get one session to access the full granular bios.

What I found was manual Freq control to 3.733ghz and Multi's 8x-28x. No voltage control however. I am going to try a P4-3.467/533 soon to see if it'll work.

Prior to the VL I tried a P4s533-E but found I liked the weird Asus/Sony hybrid better. The mATX form factor also fits an Asus case I like quite nicely.

SCSI: I recently dumpster salvaged three 10,000rpm scsi drives and wanted to try them out - never had them before. So I picked up an Adaptec 39160 card and a couple of cables on eBay and installed it in the V5 rig. Got it running [a different setup than IDE drives but pretty straight forward] but have not cloned the OS or booted off scsi yet - that's coming up. OS will go on a small partition and the "fast games" in the rest of the scso drive. The 80gb ide drive will hold data and the remainder of the games.

I like the AN430TX board too. I kept it from the first PC I ever bought new [1997]. This is the first time it's been in service since about 1998/early 99:)

Looks much more powerful than my Asus P4S533-E and P4S533-MX, 3-phase VRM against 2, and 1-phase Vdimm regulation against 0, bigger caps.

That's right. I bought from a German seller off ebay.

As for my 486 case's "badges", I printed them all out myself and pasted them.

In particular, I amused myself when I printed out : "Monkey Island Certified" and the "Designed for MS-DOS" "logo". 😁
