Yea it looks like that BIOS doesn't support booting from other controllers. Quite a shame.

All my Super Socket 7 boards support this though. I only tried these boards and later gear (slot 1 and socket 370) and they also work fine. All have Boot from SCSI in the BIOS.

Any chance you'd test the card on the P3 machine you have ?
Or even on a modern day computer, if available...

(disconnect IDE cable on all currently connected hdd's, then temporarily install the PCI card+connected SATAdisk - or even just connect the regular OS disk on that machine to the card if you have IDE-SATA adapter...)

As I'm just wondering if you'd be at all able to boot the disk on a newer mobo - i.e. if the recent bios update on the card actually helps or not(?) vs booting an OS...
(my testing was on a slot1 440BX, with existing card bios)

Ok, that looks like it did it. I found the latest 3112a BIOS, 4.4.02 off of the silicon image site, along with the latest dos flash updater. Flashed, rebooted, and BAM, it picks up the drive on POST.

Now I just need to figure out how to partition this thing with Mau's super fdisk steps and I should be good. The machine can't boot from CD so I'll find a work around.
