I need an manual for my UM486/UM486SX motherboard.
I cant find one anywhere.

Its in really good shape, almost new, no damage at all. And best of all, external battery only. Really good stuff.

I want to know can i use any other but original DX 486 chip on it?
And also can W24257AK-15 cache chips go into it.

Ive installed an 80486DX-2 66MHz and the system responds.

I checked the CPU with http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/chkcpu.htm since the POST screen didnt tell me anything and it wrote:

CPU Identification Utility v1.23
CPU Vendor and Model: "Classic" 486
Internal CPU Speed: 99.6MHz
CPU-ID Vendor String : - No CPUID -
Current CPU Mode - Real
Internal (L1) cache : Enabled in Write-Trough mode

What does it mean by 99.6MHz? Is that even possible?

some dx2's can run on 100mhz, amd's as far as i know.
About older intels i amm not sure, dx2-80 they can do.

the program probably reports back the wrong core clock maybe, can you check any fsb jumper that would be responsible for 50mhz setting instead of 33mhz.

sometimes i use this tool, can you check it out? drhdose.zip

run the analysis twice or benchmark twice to get a proper reading.

Run some benchmarks and see what score you get!

It is an AMD CPU.

DrHDose reports the following after 10 tests:

DX2BenchSML.jpg

[Edit]
Also I'm running with an active cooler, but due to lack of proper socket i have no idea how to fix it to the CPU 😁
I don't want to use those mega shitty small coolers that were for CPUs from this age.

You likely have the 3x multiplier running?

As much as i found out, with out a manual, this thing only supports DX processors. And i can only set should it use DX, 486SX or 487SX.
Which means 5V CPU voltage and i can only use DX2, or some voltage converter.

it is running as a dx2 66 or 50 not sure, the integer performance (i mean the hardstones) of any dx2 66 would be around 29000 to 30000 and for dx4 100 it would be 40-45000, am5x86 133 would be around 53-55000.
If you check the hardware and cpu at the other tabs and check twice you should be reading maybe the correct value.
i do not know why the clock is so much misreported also at the bench.

If i am correctly the amd dx2 has multiplier 2 and 3 support and when running with dx multi 1 set then it would run at 3x so 100mhz in the end.
i think the board is set to dx2 and the clock is misreported and you have actually dx-50 performance or a slow dx2-66.
But this lower integer score could also be because of somewhat lower ram performance. can you thighten timings in bios.?

you can select no tests at startup and then you can do hardware mainboard info cpu info etc, just try out the program.

btw what about the dos version msinfo? not sure.
or norton system info.?

I tried Speedsts 4.78 but it restarts the computer on memory test during startup.

I have no more ideas, seems like you have it set as dx2-66 performance wise and looks like a dx 100.
However i wouldnt mind to have a dx set to 100mhz 😉

Sorry to necro this old thread.

I got hold of one of these board myself today. Mine came with a 486sx-20 which I've replaced with a dx2-66. My multiplier must be set at 2x as the DX2-66 shows as a DX2-40. . . There are jumper settings for the sx/dx/co-pro settings but I've not been able to change the multiplier. I've tried changing the other jumpers that are not documented but seem only able to decrease (or increase with errors the amount of Cache it believes is fitted)

Could I, if you still have the board that is, if there's any chance you could take a snap of all your jumper settings so I can try and work out how to change clock and perhaps multiplier?

I've been unable to source a manual either btw.

Cheers
