The Aztech Sound Galaxy Waverider Pro 32-3D in question utilizes the AZT-2316R chipset there's also a AZT-3320 chip, AZT-3321 chip and Crystal CS4231A-KL chip, this model is not PnP and has a FCC ID: I38-MMSN852

The question is, does this card have wavetable MIDI and can the wavetable music be used in pure DOS for games that support General Midi? Thanks. 😎

from the wave rider patch readme
2. Overwrite the hmimdrv.386 file contained in the game directory with the
new one. (For "Battledrome," look in the \BD\SOUND directory. For "NASCAR
Racing," look in the \NASCAR directory. For "Descent," look in the
\DESCENT directory. For "Under a Killing Moon," look in the \MOON
directory.)

3. Configure the game to use MPU-401/General MIDI as the music device.

from the patch for dark legions
". Configure the game to use "Roland" as the music device."

edit: the above is for SG Waverider 32P Card - FCC-ID:I38-MMSN826 not sure it's the same

I38-MMSN852 is similar to MMSN847 so YES, this cards synth is accessible under DOS via the MPU-401 Interface. So after initialization you can use the synth for "General Midi" music. This is first hand information, I own this card 😀

Hey FGB, thanks for the reply, and for the confirmation. BTW, even though I don't speak native german I really enjoy your website! 😁

Since you have a wavetable comparisons section on your site, is there anyway that you could maybe record some samples of the wavetable of your I38-MMSN847? I'd love to hear what its wavetable quality is like in DOS games. Thanks. 😁

P.S. Thank you too, Davros, for your post and drivers link. 😎

The quoted WaveRider 32+ is an entirely different card. It has a WaveFront synth which needs a large TSR to work under DOS.
