Once I get this 486 going again, I'm interested in running some benchmarking software to see how it performs. What is everyone out there using?

Speedsys, 3dbench and PCPBench seem to be the standard.
Topbench can't hurt to try too 😀
Yes these are commonly used...
You can also use the shareware version of Doom and Quake for
DOOM -timedemo demo3
And quake has also a timedemo, but you launch it from within the game.
Remember that using a sound card greatly affects such benchmarks.
Does it? 🤣
quake 2 without sound card, demo1:22.4fps
quake 2 with sound card, demo1:21.8fps
At least not true on my system xD
Pentium mmx233MHz
128mb sdram
1mb cache l2
ati radeon 7200
guillemot maxi sound game theater 64
80gb maxtor hard disk viewed as 32gb :s
quake's sound code is rather optimized, but in any case you could start with -nosound.
Also to ease up the Quake benchmarking you can just have this to get directly to the same video settings even:
quake.exe +scr_conspeed 9001 +timedemo demo1 +viewsize 100 +vid_mode 0 -nosound
Also....
quake.exe +scr_conspeed 9001 +viewsize 100 +vid_mode 0 -nosound +map start +wait +wait +wait +wait +wait +wait +wait +wait +timerefresh +wait +timerefresh +wait +timerefresh +wait +timerefresh +wait +timerefresh +toggleconsole
😁
3863 gametics in doom, does it is good?
I know 35tics = +- 1second
I think gameticks are always the same number and realticks changes.
