I've got this old Compaq CDS 522, which I decided to "max out". I got an Evergreen 133MHz 486 upgrade CPU, an 8GB IDE flash drive (KingSpec) and 64mb of EDO ram.
The machine has 4mb of built-in RAM, which the manual says "is disabled when 64mb is installed".
Now, I've tried each of the 32mb sticks in each of the two memory slots, even along with the 16mb stick that was in there originally making 52mb (32+16+4). However, when I put both sticks of 32mb ram in there, the system simply sits there with a black screen, seemingly doing nothing. I attempted to boot the system into the floppy-based BIOS setup, but there's no setting there for disabling the onboard RAM. I can't find a jumper for it either, and the manual simply states that it "is disabled when 64mb is installed".
There does not seem to be any related jumpers on the motherboard either. They're all for the CPU (WB/WT, SX/non-SX, multiplier, etc).

Does anyone have any idea how to get it to do that?

Do I need a special kind of RAM or something for that function to kick in?
