hi,

i know it's a pretty old topic but, may i ask you about your external battery pack, it's a 3x AAA ?

I have the same motherboard on my father's computer, the battery (already replaced long time ago) is dead and i wish to buy a battery holder but, the original battery was a 3.6v, i dont know if only 2x AAA -> 3V is ok or if it's best with 3x AAA -> 4.5V (close to 1V more than the original)

I dont want to fry this motherboard ^^

Thank you 😀

(i didnt put pics of the original case since it's a post on the motherboard)

thanks to you soon he will have a new battery 😀

i have a similar 386 board running a am486dx40 chip but mine has a toshiba chipset + opti chip
the bios looks exactly the same aswell..
any ideas on what it could be? could it be the same exact board
someoen else said it might be a board called "robotech"
identifying a 386 motherboard? how to?

Did anyone tried soldering VLB slot to this board?

It's not a vlb slot! Mine has it soldered and I checked the vcc pins -> different from VESA pinout.
There is also a post from someone else here that tested it and it killed his vlb vga.
Better stay away from that slot 🤣

I see now. Now to find that "ECS local bus" Tseng 4000AX compatible card...

There was a pretty interesting thread on VOGONs a few years back about all the different proprietary local bus standards of the early 90s. This particular board happened to use one of those rather than the more common VESA local bus. The reason for not soldering the slot was that it would be easily confused with VLB since it unfortunately shared the same connector (with identical placement).

A similar problem happened with OPTi local bus, which shares the same connector and placement as EISA bus.

These days I could restart it and see the scores it makes with the various bench.
I also have a couple of 80MHz DX-2 CPUs, I don't know if they can work, I tried another CPU years ago but it was broken.
One of the 2 CPUs is a Cyrix, I have never tested it, because it is not clear whether it is a 5V or a 3.3V.

FX-3000 can work with DX2, DX4 Overdrive or Kingston AMD 5x86 Upgrade.
