Search didn't find any specific benchmarks for 387 (487 for SLC/DLC boards) FPUs.

I'm interested in benchmarks of different 387 FPUs - IIT, Cyrix Fasmath, Intel, ULSI... If anyone can do and post benchmarks. I usually use Checkit V3.0 and NSSI V0.59 for Whetstone benchmark. Autocad (V11, 12) is also great - but don't know how many of us has it. Quake timedemo is also possible.

My benchmarks with 386DX-40 and 487DLC-40 with IIT 3C87-40 and IIT 4C87DLC-40.

AMD 386DX-40 with IIT 387 (IIT 487DLC results are 100% the same):
Forex board
256kB cache
32MB 70ns ram
ISA Cirrus Logic 5429 2MB

Checkit: 3146.1K Whetstones (11236 Dhrystones)
NSSI: 2307K Whetstones (11861 Dhrystones)
Quake: 1.7 FPS
Dooms: 9.55 FPS
3DBench:17.5 FPS

Cyrix 486DLC-40 with IIT 487DLC (IIT 387 results are 100% the same):
Opti 82C495SLC VLB board
128kB cache
8MB 70ns ram
ISA Cirrus Logic 5429 2MB

Checkit: 3854.9K Whetstones (15785 Dhrystones)
NSSI: 5203K Whetstones (14747 Dhrystones)
Quake: 1.9 FPS
Dooms: 12.70 FPS
3DBench: 23.8 FPS

I would like to see tests with other FPUs on DX and SX platforms.

There's already an excellent article on the internets that compares all the various coprocessors in detail, including parts you will never get your hands on like the C&T 38700 and RapidCAD. It was written about 20 years ago and is floating around on the newsgroups.

To make along story short, Cyrix is the way to go.

I guess you are referring to this:

But I'd still like to see more. Hopefully I get Cyrix FasMath delivered soon and I'll post the results for above and ACAD 11/12 (regen, shading, rendering) of one or two sample 3D dwg's.

Do you have a math coprocessor that is not included in that document? It's pretty thorough.

It is a great article with all sorts of benchmarks... I'm actually looking for benchmarks mentioned in the 1st post to see how different FPUs work with different CPUs. And compare synthetic to real world apps. It's just for fun 😉
