In this thread the idea is to preserve / link / discuss benchmarks for Windows 98 only.

Everyone now and then I will compile them into one big 7-Zip self-executable and upload it to MediaFire.

Question: If I just create a 7-Zip archive, one can extract individual benchmarks right? Rather than with the self-extracting executable?

Codecreatures Benchmark Pro

Very demanding benchmark. Wants 512MB Ram and the FPS is low. Could be good for very fast systems?

It would be worthwhile to add some more system requirements for some of the benches/tools because it's not 'just Win98'.
AFAIK Win98 itself requires a 486DX on installation.

Just as example: I tried Everest on my Win95 386 system and while it starts, it freezes on the Splash Screen.
Do some of the benches require a Pentium or SSE ?
Which DirectX/OGL version do the 3D benches require as minimum?

Hey and that's hopefully what you and everyone else here will do and contribute 😀

It would be great for someone with a really slow system, like you have, and someone with a very fast system (Athlon XP or Pentium 4) to have a go at these benchmarks and note their findings.

Because we don't want to find these things out when we start another benchmark database 😀

I'll test the "middle ground" system so to speak.

I went back to the VIA GB motherboard, the Slot 1 system froze twice and don't trust it anymore. But I put a more conservative PIII EB 1 GHz on it. Also the cooler fits much better compared to the Tualatin.

But maybe a 386 is a bit too low for a W98 system?

Not having much luck with these game demos.

Turok, Expendable and Incoming all crash or don't start. Likely they are very picky with what graphics card and driver you have.
