So, today i got this weird error and it doesn't want to go away.

I tried chkdsk, scandisk, fdisk /mbr, but nothing works.

MS DOS loads up and displays that error after i type any kind of command. I tried also to search both config.sys and autoexec.bat for errors but everything is fine there.

What i did before it appeared was connect my Vectra 5 XU and my home computer for data transfer over LTP cable and transfered some data. (windows 8.1 / Windows 3.11)
And configured my Turtle Beach Pinnacle to 250 address instead of PnP mode.

did you do a surface scan with scandisk? maybe the disk is busted

I did. Flawless disk.

I removed Turtle Beach Pinnacle and now it operates normally.
It used to work normally until i installed Turtle Beach Pinnacle MPU401. After I did that it no longer worked as it should.

It is not a hard disk failure since it operates flawlessly with out Turtle Beach Sound card. Plus the hard drive was scanned not so long ago with MHDD which reported excellent condition.

Its probably an IRQ conflict with Media Vision.

Wow how on earth did you narrow it down to the card?

Nothing annoys me more than storage issues. Lost days sorting out such issues...

Ah the error occurs straight away. Ok that makes it easier 🤣

I had so many dramas with storage... ARGH give me back my lost time!

My tip of the day: Be careful with removing a HDD and cloning it in another computer. Did this and the restore worked fine on the other computer but failed on the retro PC 😢

Now I clone onto another HDD on the retro PC and all is well.

When it dies its dead 😁
I mostly ever only used SCSI drives and none died. I have a few months ago acquired IBM DFHS professional series hard drive. Works and i love it 😀

Any way, it was an IRQ error.
What fixed it for me were the following settings:

Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16
IRQ 3 | SB IRQ 5 | DMA 3

Turtle Beach Pinnacle Project Studio
IRQ DSP 7 | IRQ MPU401 9 | Address 250

IRQ 10, 11, 15 Reserved For PCI

Yaaay MIDI ! 🤣
