my k6-2+500 oc 550 rig has passed many tests: superpi, 3dmark, prime95, linx, quake3... and i thought it was stable, until i hit the wall yesterday.
its the 3dnow version of quake2, choose the "3dnow software renderer", set a resolution of 640*480 or higher, and run a few timedemo tests. i was a bit shocked to see that the game crashed quickly, tried again and it crashed again. so i had to lower the cpu to its stock clock, when the problem didn't occur again.
anyone interested in giving a try?

I could try this with a similar setup. I have a K6-3+ at 550MHz.
I don't see why you would need to lower the clock however, if this is the only game/application that's giving the CPU a hard time. It's not like there is something particularly interesting about the 3DNow! Software Renderer that would make me want to play it like that. 😊

It's the same thing as with Prime stability I guess... it may be only this one application that doesn't work properly, but you can't reliably guess which other unknown programs would act up.
