Hello to all,

I'm trying to use my Kingspec 16Gb Pata SSD in my old P5I430VX/250DM Explorer II motherboard. This is the rest of configuration:

Pentium 233mmx
2x32Mb of edo ram
Diamond Stealth II S220
Diamond Monster 3D
Mitsumi CD ROM
Panasonic 1.44MB FDD
Aopen AT Case

If CMOS settings are left on AUTO selection, drive size is recognized only as 7921MB. I've tried searching for an alternate CHS settings without success. I hope someone can help in order to properly configure full size for this SSD.

It's a BIOS limitation. 8GB is common for that time. You could use drive overlay software or a PCI IDE card (one with its own BIOS). Or just use the 8GB the board can see.

Also, if you have a relatively common motherboard, look for a bios update.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I already have newest BIOS, motherboard is quite old, it is not super S7. I'll probably get one of the promise IDE cards.
