Hi there,

I've been looking for a gamepad featuring an analog direction stick and classic D-sub gameport connector.

Been searching Ebay up and down, but no luck so far. Only thing I stumbled upon was the ill-fated, motion-controlled MS SideWinder Freestyle Pro. 😒

It almost looks as if analog sticks weren't used at all in the pre-USB era. 😕

Anyone of you know such a piece of hardware?

Greetings,

nuschii

Raidoshack sold one, Called PC avenger, its 8-Buttons, uses axis switches, to achieve it and switch between the D-pad.
Also has turbo functions. Needs Drivers in Windows, and its just a 4-button pad in dos, also has a throttle, when in that mode its just a 6-button pad.

Lol I do a google search for it and there is a couple still forsale on amazon uk.

Only gamepad I know of that has an analog stick, and a d-pad that is switchable, Is the gravis xterminator, and that has.... issues that this doesn't have.

Thanks, AlphaWing. Sorry I kept quiet for some time.

I must say, the PC Avenger pad looks kinda bulky to me. I don't think it's very comfortable to use, having the analog stick this far away from where your grip is.

But, I finally found something on Ebay DE:

It's called PC Powerpad Pro, apparently a noname brand. It's constructed the other way around: D-Pad on the far edge, analog stick below (just like most gamepads nowadays). The analog stick looks somewhat cheap (reminds me of the N64 controller), but I think this pad is better suited for my small hands, so I'm giving this a try. Well, I'm not paying EUR 20 for this old thing, there are also a few private auctions starting at EUR 1. 😉

Thats an Interact brand PC Mako pad in the US.
There terrible sadly.
I've thrown 2 out. The stick breaks off, and you can't use all the buttons.
I think the Top were just remapped from 3 and 4. That could be the 6-button version tho, Theres another pad that used the same shell don't remember which exact models I had.
Don't have a working one anymore to test that with, but thats what I remember.

Yea here is a link on US amazon to them.

Avoid or Try, but be-careful with the stick. The top comes off its plastic, can snap in half and will leave it as a bare metal bar.

I like the Gravis GamePad Pro because of the little thumb-joystock adapter and the pass-through cable. You can find them real cheap on ebay and even NOS! See here:

I bought two. 😀

Alright, I got one "PC Powerpad Pro" in for 1 EUR on the bay. Pictures look like it hasn't been used a lot and it's in nice condition. I'll let you know how it performs once it arrives.

I don't really care if some of the buttons don't work. I plan to use it mainly for DOS games. Apart from the few Gravis GrIP enabled games, you can't really do anything with 6 buttons or more.

Already have two of those. 😊 They are neat, but I'm specifically looking for an analog stick controller.
