Made this one 2 years ago for my C64. Has a 330Ohm resistor and audio noise reduction.

Is was that a Wii cable?

Yes, LumaFix64 also fixes this problem (and probably better since you can tweak the resistor value).

Depends wildly on what board revision and what VIC-II revision you are using. 😉
And the Lumafix carry it's own little quirks, like in the wrong board, the stripes will be eliminated yet the image will become slightly less sharp. In other boards, the Lumafix does not do that much anyway. For the most parts, it is working like designed.

Nope. Was a standard composite cable and standard s-video cable.

Started troubleshooting a not working Sound Blaster PRO 2 CT1600. In a 386 the card sounded like a dial-up modem, in a P100 it was mute. The card couldn't be detected neither at the address 220, nor at 240. Firstly, I replaced a couple of caps, which I thought where bad, but still no luck. So I inspected the card with a magnifying glass and I saw that at least two traces where broken. I've traced down where they go, one goes to the 240 address jumper and the other one to the IRQ10, if I can remember right. Both are comming from the ISA bus.
I was wondering, if I solder some thin wire from the bus terminals to the solder points of address 240 & IRQ10 jumpers would fix the card? Have to try it out.

After a long and arduous battle I managed to remove the 286 from my Tandy 1000 TL and install a Make-It 486, including the terminator pack for the math coprocessor. Cache program seems to have worked fine. Floppy drives still work, especially since I removed the terminator jumper on the 360K drive. Still need to do some tests with CheckIt and figure out why the TVGA9000 sometimes goes monochrome or why the boot process occasionally flips out. No biggie, this stuff is par for the course now.

I spend my days fighting with clunky software so I can afford to spend my evenings fighting with clunky hardware.

Doesn't these mods in a Commodore change its value as a "retro treasure" ? I mean, the original thing must be worth a good chunk of money....

I modified the one that had the lowest value and was no longer in its original state anyway. Also, I want to use it, so I don't care about what it's worth to others. And I have so many of these...

Oh, fair enough. These things were made to have fun as well, so as long as it still works and is fun to play with, who cares about how much it is worth...

I never used one. Closest to a retro thing I did was to tinker a bit with old PCs from 80's to early 90's and VMs of old OSes. And a Atari 2600, my #1 favorite video game.

C64s are quite common and don;t command that high a price. I bought two for the kids in the late '80s nd they hd a lot of fun with them,

I want to do a kernal chip mod on my C64, but I think it's never been opened before. I feel kind of bad about opening it even, let alone mod it. I might look for a trashy C64 to do up instead of altering this one.

On the other hand, C64's seem intended to be modded, and the one I have now will need some maintenance anyway (recap maybe, heatsinks, etc).

That's easy to tell. The center front screw is covered by a "warranty void" sticker if it has never been opened before. Otherwise it has been opened before already.

Bah, modding has always been a HUGE part of the C64 scene. It's one of the most popular PCs ever created and I'm pretty sure every museum or whatever who need a "pristine, untouched" original, already have one. Go nuts. 😀

My 64C has a dual-SID board fitted, stereo RCA audio jacks drilled (neatly!) into the outside of the case, a flash memory expansion, and a new-built PSU to replace the horrible system-killer epoxy brick thing they came with. Heaps of fun.

Also, it's really easy to peel up and put back that "warranty void" sticker. That's not a good indicator IMHO.

Depends.... If the case is all drilled into a big mess with holes, and the plastic is too yellow, then yes it is worth less.
On the other hand, if you have kernal switcher and other mods, that require non to few switches, then it increases the value.
Dual SID, FPGA-SID, S-Ram upgrade, recapping and other modern upgrades will make the price go up as well.
Even a MechBoard will increase the price dramatically. (It is one of those aftermarket newly created mechanical keyboards)

Neat aftermarket case! I had one of those, but sold it off a few years ago to a guy in... Michigan... wait a minute, did you buy that machine without a SID chip off Lemon64 around ~2012?

True, but a 1541 is not a C64. 😉

Also, some models of the C64 are rare and very pricey. Same with the 1541. Overall of course, they are not rare in general.

I think he was talking about Commodore hardware in general, and not just C64. 😉
Yup... A mint condition Model-C (250466 board) are actally worth more than the Breadbin (250407 and 250425) yet the most expensive is still the Silver-Label. And then there are these lesser produced models, like the "Aldi" (not Model-G) and I think the Australian Model-C are quite expensive outside Australia as well.
