Half the Maxtors I've owned had bad sectors on them. Sometimes, I get lucky and they're at the end of the partition, so a 120MB drive becomes a 90MB drive.
Still, I am of the firm belief that Maxtor drives, overall, are of low quality. If I have a retro system I care about, it'll have a WD in there.
Funny, generally speaking I had good luck with Maxtor and Quantum hard drives (they were very common around here). The few WD drives I used back in the day died soon, so I do not like them.
