Having followed the instructions on the following thread (for an old DOS machine):
Yamaha YMF-724 DOS Sound Blaster Setup Assistance Needed
I still had issues, so I commented on the topic and got some helpful advice and got stuck at a dead end. In a nutshell, the decompressed? driver contents still refuse to recognize that I even have the card installed (even though the tail end of the BIOS picks it up).

Driver contents, all copied to the DOS machine's hard drive:
setupds.exe (ran this one)
default.pal
Dos4gw.exe
Dsdma.exe
Fmmidi.exe
loadtsr.bat
setupds.exe
ymh.mid
Ymh16.wav
Ymh8.wav
ds.ini (found this in a different directory from the other files)

Any ideas?

Do you have the soundcard on IRQ 5? Also, I used a modified config.sys and autoexec.bat from this page when I had a Yamaha YMF-744.

Please pay attention in which forum you post. It had nothing to do with Dosbox nor with Dosbox multiplayer
