I unproblematically installed Windows OSR 2.0 and after that also unproblematically installed the NVidia drivers version 56.72

I get at least 4 error messages while starting Windows. When I pass them by clicking on the ok, windows starts and everything looks normal. It is frustrating in any case. should I use another version of Windows 95 (OSR 2.5?) or another version of NVidia drivers? Nvidia site has them from 28.32 to 81.98.

Try 43.45, 45.23. If looking for stability.

Stay away from the 81.98's as you will need to use a driver cleaner program to get rid of them.
The uninstall doesn't function on most machines I try to install them to for that set.
There not exactly stable either, I dunno why NV bothered.

i thought 56.72 is for 2000/Xp ?

Don't know These can installed in 9x.

I've tested today some versions for my win98 Installation with FX5200...

First from CD 45.23 works in Desktop, (all versions Work in Desktop), but Main menu of Colin mcRae rally was brocken.

Then i try 81.98: In CMR no Menu, just Black Screen with moving Flags.

I try then 44.03 and 40.72 and they work okay. Game is fully playable.

Versions i found and i can Test this weekend: 77.72, 56.64.

This are all 9x versions...

BTW: I use the same Drivers on my other PC with win98 and GeForce TI 4200:

40.72 Work okay, 81.98 and 45.23 have the same Bugs in CMR.

^Which Colin McRae Rally is that?

For games pick a driver that's within a year after the game has been released. Studying the release notes also gives clues.

Having said that I never had issues with the latest drivers. Don't even remove them, just install the driver you want.

I don't think the FX cards can go farther back then the 40 series maybe late 39xx betas.
My FX5800 which is one of the oldest cards for that line, came with the 43.45's on its driver disks.

I currently got a 5700 LE going under W98SE. Uses the latest NV driver, I think it's 80 or 90 something. The card has DVI which makes it easy for me to capture.

So, could you maybe change the OS to 98SE?
