proposal. make reconition for a videocard by a bus number. in my case it reports about agp card. but agp bus has no.1, so it can't be agp, since it behind 0-2 pci-pci bridge

file.php?id=103440

No, I feel using the bus number is just asking for issues and for openers on the system with the real 6000 the AGP bus is #2.

I suspect the correct solution is to change the PCI Subdevice ID provided we can get the drivers to work with a different one. AFAIK below is a list of all the IDs.

It's also strange the real 6000 had 52525252 for the VSA 100s, but yours has 56565656 and I wonder why.

121A:0009=Voodoo5
121A:0009:121A:0001=Voodoo5 6000 AGP
121A:0009:121A:0002=Voodoo5 5500 AGP
121A:0009:121A:0003=Voodoo5 5000 PCI
121A:0009:121A:0004=Voodoo4 4800/4500/4000 TV+LCD AGP
121A:0009:121A:0005=Voodoo4 4500/4200 TV+LCD PCI
121A:0009:121A:0006=Voodoo4 4400 AGP
121A:0009:121A:0009=Voodoo5 5500/6000
121A:0009:5252:5252=Voodoo5 VSA-100
121A:0009:5656:5656=Voodoo5 VSA-100

original v56k based on 320 chips, mine on 220 chips, maybe because of that

subdevice id is a bios variable. you could flash your v55 with v56k bios and it will be reported as v56

sorry but you're wrong. no one vsa100 can be detected as a pci device except the master one. i'll show correct pci listing a bit later

I feel you should get your facts correct before making posts such as this.

also, have to ask. is it possible to display memory mapped registers of 3dfx cards like pciinit, miscinit, draminit, strapinfo, vgainit? it would be very useful

Most of the retro comunity needs only something like voodoo3 3500 with 32-bit, and larger textures and as add-in PCI card without 2D. It would be used only for Glide games anyway, for anything else, Direct3d power accelerator would be used. I would much more exciting with voodoo4 for PCI slot and ability to run as 3D only Glide card same as voodoo2, than with 4-chips solution overpriced behemoth.

I also don't need original one... just give me Glide card into retro computer for cheap, and I will be happy. 😀 It CAN be replica, I don't care.

I have a plenty of projects covering a whole range of 3dfx cards, except Rush and Banshee. None of them cheap, sorry.

"Sorry"? You don't have to sorry. 😀 I didnt ask for anything. You probably misunderstood my post. I didnt ask for it, I've just told "what retro community wants" , and that it would be much more better to save 4 chips, for 4 other cards than use it for v5 behemoth. Of course, I've meant it by company, that remake it. Not hand-made cards... hand-made will be always overpriced, that's for sure. But when some company get for example 1000 or 5000 chips, they could make lots of cards from it, and it will not be so overpriced. Problem is of course legal Issues with Nvidia. Because of that, it never happen, because Nvidia would want lots of money for it for sure, to allow it. And after it, it would be worth only with 50000 chips or so. And such big project will never happen.
I was just commenting regards what people said, they said, that it doesnt have sense, because voodoo5 eats 4 chips etc... and it will be overpriced. And also, that they want original, not replica. That's not true. Most of people want voodoo cards only for option for Glide games... they dont need voodoo5 power. As primary card for opengl and Direct3D, there are much better cards , like Geforce 4 Ti, etc... they need it only for Glide. And that's where voodoo3 power is complete enough... they only need it in form of PCI add-in 3d accelerator. Also AGP 4x would not mind, to be able to use it with 1.5V AGP slot.

That "sorry" at the end of your post, was like you took it serious, I want such card. I dont want. I already have voodoo2 and voodoo3, I dont need anything else. Of course, voodoo2 with 32-bit rendering and 1024x768 would be handy. Dont need to take voodoo5 because of that. Cause I screw my primary AGP slot with weak voodoo5, that sucks in recent games. I would rather take Geforce 4 Ti/FX5700 combo with improved voodoo4 for PCI addin option... that would eat up only 1 Chip. Much better option, than to waste 4 chips for some behemoth, that will be overpriced because of that.

pls accept my apologizes, i meant respond to a pci config space when i mentioned detection of other chips. of course these devices could be accessed, but not as a separate pci devices. when you list these chips along with other pci devices it is a bit unusual and makes a confuse. maybe it worth to distinguish them by a detection method and display them as a slave devices to a master chip.

thank you for the implementation of the new feature.

some people want to get maximum from a glide apps with maximum aa, so 4 chip behemoth only one option. moreover, my card intended to be the second graphics adapter in the system.

I have now released SIV 5.57 Beta-01 so use this rather than the test SIVs. Next time you have you card in the Core i5 system please will you generate SIV32X save files for me so I can compare what your 6000 reports with a real 6000? To do this run SIV32X than do Menu->File->Save Local.

Do you any plans to add a sensor chip to your card such that it's possible to read temperatures, voltages and fan speeds?

ok. will do, but i need a fresh xp install. the old one was suspicious.

sensor chip requires some kind of control, via i2c bus, i presume. so, bios and drivers modifications req'd. i'm able to place it, for sure, but how to read from it? there's 2 pairs of i2c, one goes to ddc, other one dedicated to vmi interface. the last one could be used for anything useful. but, once again, drivers support req'd.

I prefer 2003 Server to XP, further 2003 comes with inbuilt Voodoo5 support including 6000, but I have only tested with a 5500.

Could you connect the sensor chip to the motherboard SMBus? If you did this it would be almost trivial to get SIV to report it and no driver or BIOS changes would be needed.

your idea worth to consider. suggest some sensor chips to implement.

How about a W83795ADG or NCT7904D? Some of the others only support 3 fans.

i like NCT7904D, but i see only datasheet for it. i need to see design guide or implementation guide or reference schematic or something like that. if you know where to get it, pls share

i see some kind of licensing mentioned in datasheets for these chips, so no chance to get free design guidelines. maybe leaked motherboards schematics would help in finding acceptable monitoring solution

Anthony thank you for your hard work.

Will this card have an option for DVI output like many Apple Mac version Voodoo 4 and Voodoo 5?

People often take the Mac V4 and V5 and flash the firmware to operate on a Window's PC and it would be a nice option to have both VGA and DVI video out.

Thank you again!

thank you.
digital video out was not intended in 4 chip sli configuration by 3dfx design
take a look at my fb page https://www.facebook.com/zxc64.hw
there's you could see functional diagram of this device. you'll understand from the first glance why digital out is not possible.
although, maybe some kind of fpga can help

I do not use or go near Facebook, but I can understand what you are explaining. Either way, thank you a million times over.
