Hello. I've looked into it a bit more, here are my findings so far.

-No source code, unfortunately.

-No marketing material either. I was expecting this to be the July 99 demo, along with some extra stuff on the CD, like marketing material as you say.

-The game crashes a lot. I would place its level of progress around 75%-80%. As it is, it seems like very late Alpha or very very early Beta.

-Some AI code is missing, for example certain enemy types will not attack you at all. Also, some NPCs like Master Jong do not seem to interact with you at all. Lame 😜

-Tons of graphical issues. Blending errors, lightning issues, GUI text appearing on the maps that sort of thing.

-Sound effects are all over the place. A lot of them are missing (opening chests and some enemy death cries for example), some completely new ones are in (like some of Locke's battle cries) and most of them glitch out and cut off one another.
As far as voice acting goes, it seems to be finalized at this point, although I did detect some extra dialogue with Locke during Rand's execution very early in the game. Cool stuff!

-Some character models are different, like Rand for example who also uses one of the enemies' portraits in dialogue. I am also under the impression that some of the NPC animation also looked kinda different, I think I noticed it more on Lord Tendrick, I may be mistaken on this one.

-Disc data size is 239MB, however CD-Audio increases the overall disc size to 450MB.

-There is some CD-Audio music on the disc, seems to be the same as the final except for one track which I couldn't find on the original discs or is just heavily altered. It's not easy to tell because most of the music is ambiance.

-FMVs are completely missing.

-There a lot more Multiplayer "Modules" as the game likes to dub them. I haven't been able to run any of them, because the game crashes on me.

-Overall map layouts seem the same, but there are cosmetic differences in object placement.

-Internal map system does not work, unfortunately.

-The main menu UI is different, mainly on the Options screen, Multiplayer and ESC Menu.

-Game's character UI seems identical. Now for those of you who don't know, you can actually completely hide the UI and have a full screen, however you can make the UI pop out whenever you feel like. This is done instantly in the final release, however there is a sliding animation in this build which isn't really smooth. I'm guessing that's why the took it out.

-Potion vials stay in your inventory as empty vials in this build. They simply vanish in the final game, which indicates that they have some extra functionality or that maybe there was one planned.

-The game is unfinishable at this state. You cannot enter or exit the Caves, I could only access them through save games already in the game.

Very cool how your thread turned into something like this. I mean, nobody expected you to find an alpha version of the game!

This is the sort of stuff I come to Vogons for 😀 It's high up there with Artex's retro porn and Badmofo's AT cases.

Yeah, completely and utterly unexpected! I can't thank Stretch enough for linking me to that auction.

Rest assured, I will release this, I just want it to be preserved somewhere where people can still download and access it after lots of years. The one issue with this game is that its so darn picky. Hopefully, through projects such as PCEm, getting such games to run properly won't be as much of an issue as it is.

Hi I'm looking for some lost Revenant files. They used to be available here. https://web.archive.org/web/20000621110713/ht … om/download.htm

They were used to mod the game but most of them have been lost to time. Were any of these files on that disk you have?
