flashed a lot of MCU's today.

Also checked out bootloader.
MCU's are flashed with TinySafeBoot and PS/2 Adapter Firmware 1.0 now.
So you can Update in the Future over RS232 Port, Flashing works now under Windows, Linux, MacOSX and on MS-DOS.

Don't flash this with TSB Loader! only for programming with ISP Adapter.

I forgot to mention that shipping with trackingnumber costs additonal.

Also first kits will ship at beginning of the next week.

The Package arrived today, and I assembled the single kit this evening. Without the LM7805 that is, because I want to use it with 5 Volt from the PSU instead. Maybe later I will make a bracket for it and configure an internal RS232 cable.
I am glad to report it works well with this optical PS/2 wheel mouse: "MiNt, Model MSO-03".
For completeness sake: It does not work with "Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical USB" with PS/2 adapter.
So I can now use a proper mouse on my 486 VLB system. That is amazing! Thank you for making this Matze79.

I wanted to print out something to aid in the assembly, but ended up taking a photo and making another component overview. It is attached.

What is the function of the DIP switch?

Edit: updated graphic a little

Hi gerwin,

the DIP Switch is for future use, it will allow to switch beetween Microsoft and Logitech Mode, and other stuff.
Firmware Update is possible trough bootloader on the mcu. (thats why it needs some time to start, there is delay to wait for update programm to send firmware)
Also thanks to felmar loyd wo makes this possible and wrote a entirly new firmware for the ps2 mouseverter 😀.

Nice Graphic, i wanted to make a webpage with instructions but had no time until now 😒

Interesting. Though I am currently not knowledgeable about these things, I am looking forward to whatever you and felmar loyd can come up with in the future.

Using Windows 95 it recognizes the setup as a generic serial mouse. It is not that big a deal, but would there be some trick to get Windows 95 to utilize the mouse-wheel movement, for scrolling?

No problem. It has to start from somewhere. Your video had some info that I could not find elsewhere, but I put that in the graphic now. ( You can use or change it if you like, of course. )

Felmar tried to get it working and its enableable in the firmware (recompile needed), but when ctmouse is loading the keyboard locks up when wheelmouse support is enabled.
And currently no one knows what is wrong here.
So experimental wheelmouse support is not working now.

The Tiny4313 is also in place to support your future space requirements 😀

nice!
have you considered the possibility of making it like the raritan adapter? plugs in both keyboard (for 5v) and serial and has pass through connector for keyboard and ps2 mouseport

It's not compact enough yet 😒

New version is printing right now, Matze should have his in a few days.

STL file will be made public when it's finalized.

One of the issues with the raritan adapter is that the unit sticks out about around 2-3", that is, straight out pasted the serial port. It would have been nice if they had a swiven mount for the DB9 at 90 degrees, so that the unit would not protrude so far out the back of the case.

What I think would be neat would be figuring out how to get matze79's adapter working with KVM's which switch a single PS/2 mouse between ports. All the commercial units I've tried have had issues with this.

Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

i tested 3 kvm switches, and all where working fine.
Also the Microsoft Wheelmouse USB works on it with USB Adapter, someone has written it does not but mine is fine.
Also my Logitech USB has dualmode Support and works.

i also don't understand why all those other converters are so expensive, there are ones from 50$ to 300$.
i mean for 300$ you can expect a nice tracking quality..

i now working on miniaturize the device.
use mlf package controller, smaller voltage regulator etc. i'm pretty sure it can be made much smaller,
maybe it will fit soon inside a SubD9 Case.
But i'm not sure if can hand solder MLF 😀

did the package arrive feiopa ?
i have no idea how long it will take oversea.
