Recently I acquired a Commodore 486DX-33C PC. The CMOS battery is dead so I decided to open it up. Now the first "problem" is the RTC chip that is soldered to the board but that's another problem.
With regards to upgrading the system in the future, I am trying to find info about the mainboard but so far no luck. Is this a custom one for Commodore?
Some recognisable chips are:

Symphony SL82C362
Symphony SL82C461
Symphony SL82C465

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: found it after dismantling the whole PC because I will have the RTC chip replaced.
It's a PKM-3363Y.
Is it also normal that it refuses to boot due to the empty CMOS????
I can fiddle in the BIOS, save and reboot only to get the press F1 key message again...

In your BIOS, If you choose "halt on: no errors" (if available - in the first/system page), it will still give the CMOS battery dead message but keeps booting after you press f1 (or the designated key there).

Aha thanks, will remember that for the future problems 😀
Just taken out the board and someone is going to replace/repair the RTC chip. There is no much fun in having to configure the BIOS every time...
