After looking for period correct ATX case for my K6-III+ retro build I found not only one but three cases:

The middle case had this inside:

Full res: https://i.imgur.com/9wWGdUh.jpg

Still posts despite having blown caps:

One of the smaller cases had this:
Gz4eo6oh.jpg
Full res: https://i.imgur.com/Gz4eo6o.jpg

Seems to be in good condition and posts:

The second smaller case had this:
XRA5KQuh.jpg
Full res: https://i.imgur.com/XRA5KQu.jpg

It posts too (all caps seem fine):

I'm going to cannibalize the large case with the MSI mobo with blown caps for my Gigabyte GA-5AX, K6-III+ and Voodoo3 build. I'm drowning in Slot-1 motherboards now, I have Abit BH6, Abit BE6-II, Asus P2B, Asus P3B-F and an Intel made BX440 mobo now. I also found a motherboard with BX440 + Socket 370, I need to to take a closer look on that one.

Story time!

I just had a surreal experience. Saw on craigslist a "free" computer that looked BRAND new. Seller claimed his crotch goblin was being an undisciplined little shit, so the parent took his christmas present back. (obviously paraphrasing here) He wanted someone to come and take it while his kid watched. Apparently he got it for minecraft and instead was watching porn. At thirteen! What is this world coming to?

I wasn't going to get the hard drive, but I bought an USB stick with dban and he let me have it. I almost feel sorry for the kid. I think every wall had a crucifix on it of some caliber. I know in 5 years that kid is going to rebel so hard it will be biblical. Anyway, here is a couple shots of the system:

DpupTQOm.jpgtFtmlbKm.jpg

Talk about a score!

Specs:
Gigabyte AM3+ motherboard - https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-UD3P-rev-2x#ov
8gb of 1600mhz ddr3 gskill (2x4gb)
Amd FX6300 - wow!
1tb seagate drive
Geforce 210

Damn thing is SPOTLESS. I'm honestly sad now. I looked it up, and it is faster than the computer I'm typing on right now. my dual xeons are barely faster than this single chip! 🙁

And for the record, I have no qualms about the situation.

Someone needs to beat the fuck outta that parent. Indoctrinating there kids with religious zealotry that has held back science and man kind as a whole for 2000 years AND taking away his computer which is essential these days because if you can't use a computer at a reasonable level you essentially have no future in any high paying career which in about 10-20 years will mean being replaced by a robot. Not to mention people should be allowed to do whatever the fuck they want on the Internet. It's supposed to be a free land that no country, person, or body can regulate.

Taking someones Christmas present for something as minor as watching porn is kinda a shit move anyways. It's not like the kid isn't going to find it somewhere else.

Not really our business. Someone else would have taken it if he hadn't. What if the kid stole the parent's credit card and used that to buy cam shows? They get pay back by getting rid of the PC. Who knows, a lot of assumptions.

I found this graphics card today in local recycling center. Does anyone recognize what graphics card it is?
It seems to have the normal model sticker missing. I did try to find pictures online of this cards, but couldn't find match

That card almost looks brand new! If it is an 8800 then and new even, then you may have scored a great XP card.

Maybe your card overheated and the stickers fell off? It does look a bit scratched up. Is it in working condition? The stickers may have been torn off?

Yeah, it is bit banged up and scratched. Look how the back bracket has bent too. I don't have any other pci-express system running at the moment except my main system and I don't want to test something in it that someone has thrown away.
I will probably get my old core 2 duo system running again some time soon to test it.

The graphics card seems to be working fine. Took some time to straighten the bent bracket without breaking it. It is Geforce 8800 GT 1024Mb. 600Mhz core and 900Mhz memory. I tested it with 3dmark01se in windows xp and got result of 36714 3dmarks and there were no artifacts during the test. Cooler seems to be fine too because it didn't go over 60C during the test. Might still take the cooler off, clean it and put new thermal paste.

Good idea. When I work on my computers, the first thing to replace is the thermal compound. I use Artic 5 Silver on my CPUs, and graphics cards. Might do the same with the motherboard chipsets as well.

1GB is a very unusual configuration for a 8800 series card.

On this web page https://www.nix.ru/autocatalog/palit_graphics … -SLI_76291.html it has been labeled as oem card, so perhaps that's the reason?

This isn't a true barn find, as this stuff has been in my parent's barn for for a very very long time. It was one of those moments akin to opening a time capsule. Thank goodness it was decently shielded from the elements associated with winter, summer, winter, summer, winter, summer, etc. Lots of photos from here on out 😀

All wrapped up in plastic was a windowless Chieftec Dragon ATX case.

Then a windowed door for the case above.
FqW3a.md.jpg

A couple of front bezels for another Chieftec Dragon Case.

FqArQ.md.jpg

A couple of beige ATX cases that need to a little TLC.
FqiNe.md.jpg
Fq0ik.md.jpg
FqI9x.md.jpg

These were taken at home because I ended up putting this in the trunk before I started taking photos.
A beige AT Full Tower Case with an ATX Mid-Tower for comparison. This Mid-Tower is not one of the two above, so it would appear I now have three.
FeiV5.md.jpg
Fejvz.md.jpg
Fe0GT.md.jpg

Another beige AT Full Tower Case, although the bezel has broken off here.
FeCLA.md.jpg

Two SOYO Socket 462 Motherboards. The K7V Dragon Plus! (purple) looks to be in good shape.
The SY-K7VTA Pro has a mess of bad capacitors, oh well.
FerXr.md.jpg

I also rediscovered a bunch of 3.5" and 5.25" disk drives and a few CD-ROM and DVD Drives.
But with those drives was a PCI USB card. USB 1.1, high-tech!
Fe1gF.md.jpg

Not everything was in as great a shape. A few cases were exposed to weather.
Here is a beige Aopen ATX Desktop case. The plastic has cleaned up perfectly. But the metal is going to need more wire brush treatment.
Fem3x.md.jpg

What remained of the unprotected.
FeBrk.md.jpg

I don't even know what I'm going to do with it all as my retro tastes have changed considerably since acquiring these cases all those years ago.

Well.... I am 41, and back when I was 13, I had a big collection of porn magazines.
My parents only taught me, that there is a difference between love and sex, and that porn is only a fantasy in picture form. So yeah.... The world is still the same, and has only come to the point that porn has changed from vhs/mags to internet. No big deal.... The big deal is that instead of punishing him, they should really have sat down and talked reality with him. All I can say, is that now the son knows about porn. He will seek it again in the future. So better teach him real life. Or he will make some pretty stupid things in the future, like forcing a future girlfriend to do nasty stuff she does not feel good about doing. And ultimately it can be traced back to his parents that failed their own son this way.

My original K6-II-500 had that exact case wich is the one on the left. Best 98/99-era case to date, that I ever have owned.

Not that unusual as one might think. I have a Gainward Bliss PCX 8800Gt 1GB here, the 1GB versions were made by Palit, ASUS, Gainward(same as Palit probably), EVGA, Club3D and surely some others.

First time I have ever seen a Palit card. The backplate is made if thick metal and the heatsink is heavy too... almost feels bit like industrial style. The card looks really nice after cleaning except that I wasn't able to do anything about the scratches in the backplate.
