Raptors were the cherry on top of the tree, piece de reeses, icing on the lily,* for the high performance Athlon or P4 system of the first half of the noughties.

* Yeah sorry, I like mangling metaphysics and metaphors. If you're still confused, it's cherry on top of the cake, piece de resistance, and gilding of the lily, conflated, with angel/fairy/star on a christmas tree, reeses pieces and icing on the cake. Yeah there's a lot of cake sayings in English, it takes the cake for that, so learning it is no cake walk, unlike some simpler tongues which are a piece of cake.

Got this for free, but since the guy was about to trow it to the trash, and i said i want it (he was why the hell do you need this crap old pc), it is ideal for trades, or to sell the parts, and with that to get new retro parts from it..
A shitty system, but after all is for free + these shit type of cheap ass systems have their own charm... Is interesting there was only 1 blown up cap on the video card some crap brand,r est are japanese so they are fine, but no blown caps on that shitty PSU or the ASSrock...

Spec:
Intel Pentium E2200
ASSrock ConRoe 1333
nVIDIA GEforce 9500GT Palit (prob the best part from the whole system, it have even HDMI + Windows 10 drivers great huh)
1GB Adata 800, 1GB Buffalo Select 667 ( 🤣 the usual BS when one of the dimms is slower speed and drags the faster one down too kek)
Hitachi 160GB Sata, MaxtoR/ Quantum Fireball 40GB (this one is also interesting, but man FK that noise... )
Floppy SONY 1.44m
LG DvD RW ded, Samsung CD 56x
PSU Dandy 350W
Case the type of cheese box

I got offered a 16-bit ISA Intel NIC for free, but it's BNC only. Same card as this:

DSCF1382__24133.1576265684.jpg?c=2?imbypass=on

Anyone know what the D-Sub is for? Also, it has an EEPROM socket, so I guess I can use it to load XT-IDE on my 286?

Dsub ... AUI connector. just another interface for the network, like the bnc or an rj45. converters exist for AUI 2 RJ45.
main use was in the time of 10base-5 (?i think), with the thick cables. a transciever would be clamped on the thick cable and a dropcable would be used to connect the tranceiver with the network card.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

I believe that card might be able to operate in an 8-bit slot should you wish to install it in an XT compatible machine. Use the intel "softset2" DOS utility to change its settings.

Whole bunch of condemned flats on my new duty are being cleared out. Lots of bed frames and cabinets left behind, I wondered if there might be a 486 or something waiting to be uncovered. This'll do nicely...

There was a "barn sale" down the street from my house today and while I expected to come home with absolutely nothing, I somehow hit the motherload instead. Four retro PCs and I wasn't charged a penny for any of them! No idea if any of them work yet but they're in fairly good shape, no corrosion or signs of mouse damage.

Thank you! There was also a Packard Bell 486 that I should have probably taken too but I decided not to, and also some utterly MASSIVE wide format dot matrix(?) printers that I didn't have the room or the muscles to take. Weirdly enough, zero monitors?

Instant collection almost, with Tandy 1000 thru 286 to ?? Nice haul.

There were rumors flying in the noughties, that CRTs would be declared toxic waste, so kind of accelerated dumping of them by normies, since they didn't wanna end up getting stuck with a $20 a pop dumping fee or something.

Wow, a DTK AT-class computer using AMD instead of Intel CPU? Hope it still works.

There is a little battery corrosion but nothing too extreme, it might blow a Rifa and/or a tantalum in the process of doing a "smoke test" but I definitely think it will work in the end.

Got a few PCs with these videocards and a boatload of 478&775 boards from community e-waste.
I just couldn't leave them there. Nothing special, most of them had the usual Celeron 2.4 - Celeron D 336 inside with the generic Codegen 350 W PSU.

I am happy to work at a news stations that is moving, for once. Got myself a PVM and BNC cables for the price of asking if I could have it.

It has RGB, and will probably work with my IIGS since it’s a 15Khz accepting screen.

Trash picked this CoolerMaster WaveMaster case... Perfect condition. Dates to about 2004... All aluminium... Everything! Power buttons, motherboard tray, drive bay covers. Quality seems great. Need to decide what system to put in it..
