Outside of the IDE connectors on the CT2230 and CT2290, are there any other significant differences between these two cards? For example, is there any difference in OPL sound quality between them or do they sound the same?

Also, what are the retail names for these two cards? I've found some sites refer to them as Sound Blaster 16 MCD, ASP and Pro, but I could not find any definitive answer. Were they perhaps sold under multiple retail designations?

I would like to know as well. Also add CT2770 to the list.

Thanks! I think I am going to get one of these. Supposedly among the best SB16's. I'm never going to find a CT2940 with OPL3 hehe.

One minor difference I've noticed is that the CT2290's black CD-IN connector blocks the wave-table header somewhat.

I have a CT2290 in the box and it's labeled "Sound Blaster 16 Value":
