No, no...it's also a problem of the original BIOS, the Mod-BIOS didn't change anything to this. I remember that I couldn't get UDMA to work with HDDs supporting UDMA above UDMA66 (I tested some ATA-6/-7 HDDs), the only solution was to use a ATA-5/UDMA66 max. HDD.
I didn't ever hear about a way to limit a HDD to a specific ATA version (ATA-5 in this case).
OK...now building the .7z ... 😉
Edit:
PM has been sent! 😀
kind regards

I am also interested in modified bios. I want to try cpu, ram performance tweaks 😁.
Can u please PM me? Thank you
EDIT:
My motherboard is DFI K6XV3+/66 Rev. B2
I actually have a problems newer bios versions:
Revision
date 2000-04-12
It seems that this version of bios works perfect. Also i see, that it recognizes newer disks as UDMA 99 (but speed is probably 66 - i have to test it yet).
Also "Quick power on self test" works correctly - When it is enabled, it does not count RAM space when posting. Bios recognizes disks up to 137GB correctly.
Then i was reading here on forums that newer versions are better and so on... so i flashed this version:
RevisionB
date 2000-09-26
Bugs i haven't seen with previous version of BIOS:
- Quick power on self test doesn't work. When POST-ing, it counts RAM space all the time. If is enabled, it counts it one time. But when it is disabled in bios, it counts it 3 TIMES over and over 😳
- Newer disks are now recognized as UDMA 0 😒
- And the worst thing: When i came to windows 98SE logon, before start menu and icons loaded - the computer shuts off! I was dissapointed.
Also i tried "beta" version:
RevisionB
date 2001-04-18
- The same problems as with 2000-09-26
After that i went back to DOS and reflashed back the BIOS with my old version 2000-04-12. And everything was back to normal.
Can someone explain me that stuff? Why newer versions of BIOS, if the 2000-04-12 works well? Did I do anything wrong maybe? 🙁
