Hi,

I've had a good look through the search and in the end just managed to confuse myself really.

Could anyone advise me as to a decent native Tualatin motherboard? I would like to use the 1.4ghz model.

The board that keeps popping up in previous threads is the Asus TUSL2 but they are mega money on ebay.

Thanks !

Mine is Gigabyte GA-6VTXE. I purchased it as a replacement for existing GA-6VXE7+ and used with a coppermine 1000 for a time, happily. Now it has a 1.4 Tualatin and I'm even happier..😀

Thanks,

Looks like they are quite hard to come by also

Slightly off topic but can I ask also how you installed 95 98 and ME together?

I tried using an old version of System Commander but my TFT didn't support the resolution it was trying to use on boot and I got an 'out of range' message.

Thanks

My tip is to keep your eye out for OEM boards. I have two from Acer that are fully Tualatin compatible with the Intel 815 chipset. The challenge is finding out which board is actually compatible.

Which Tualatin boards are compatible with the Pentium 3 S version? I heard that some non-server boards refuse to work with them.

Do not refrain from refusing to stop hindering yourself from the opposite of watching nothing other than that which is by no means porn.

and when you decide to wear the big-boy pants, you can get boards like the Tyan S2688, the Intel SDS2, or the Supermicro P3TDE6-G

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

If you can find a really cheap CUSL2 then you could perhaps fit a modified Tualatin from Ebay into the budget?

Finding a cheap TUSL2 seems pretty much impossible, at least in Sweden but I see CUSL2 boards very often.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

Are you talking about this pinmod?
http://www.mrufer.ch/pc/tualatin2_e.html

You will able to run only Tualatin that works with 1.5v with this mod if you do this mod with Tualatin that works with 1.45-1.475v, you will have problems ( crash, blue screen etc)

No we are talking about this mod which probably is pretty similar. It works fine as long as the motherboard supports the Tualatin voltage range and has BIOS support, CUSL2 runs these CPUs perfectly. I have 3 of these, all of them have a stock vid of 1.45v.

This Korean guy on Ebay will sell you an adapter without the CPU but the adapter isnt easy to install so its better to just buy the whole CPU with the socket adapter already soldered to it. You get a discount if you buy more than one as the shipping is included in the price. He has the Celeron 1400 aswell in case someone needs 100 MHz FSB, I run one of those in an Abit BH6 with a FCPGA slotket.

Maybe it could be but have you ever used Abit ST6 Raid?

Good point, i didn't. I tested a few through the years and the Tusl2-c is my favorite. I do have a preference for asus boards (but the asus tuv4x is far less stable with agp cards) but sure, there are more great boards.

Abit made great boards (as did for example epox, aopen and msi) but i had far less problems with leaking capacitors or doa with asus boards. Almost every used Asus board that came in my house simply worked, as almost EVERY msi board and epox board was dead. Abit and Gigabyte were somewhere in the middle, some worked, some didn't.

That experience (and features, stability) makes me a fan of Asus but other people will have other experiences. With hardware as old as 15-25 years it can very well be simply luck.

Sorry, I didn't see your post, so I'm a bit late. My favorite multibooter is a small dos package called "Master Booter" and you can find it in here:

http://www.masterbooter.com/main/news.php?lang=en

I have the registered version (30 USD) which can boot 8 different systems, but even shareware version is able to boot 3 systems. It is a very nice package, easy to use, it's bootable floppy image is fantastic, and its documentation is very helpful. This one is a text mode booter, so I don't think you will have a problem with your monitor.
