Which Program will I need to save the current BIOS to a different file?

The same you're writing it with. Start the program with the ? flag and it should print out all the options.

Example 4 will NOT write the BIOS and only read it and save it into the file SAVEBIOS.

You can then try writing back that same BIOS as a test to see if everything is working.

I believe if you run the program without any options, it might interactively walk you through saving the current BIOS, then flashing a new one.

I'd use
AWDFLASH NEWBIOS /Py OLDBIOS /Sy /CC
where NEWBIOS is the name of the new bios file, OLDBIOS is the name of the file to create and save a backup to

I actually tried Example 4 and I got this error
System was not new AWARD BIOS Version
Please updata ROM BIOS First

Will I need a old version of the old Flash writing program?

I have attached two ASUS flash programs that came in my TX97-XE drivers/utils CD. Hopefully they will work.
