Quite an improvement, well worth the £30! Will be interesting to see what the switch to a X5460 will make...

Installed the X5460 tonight quickly and did another quick run. Up to 57fps from 54fps - so not quite the jump as I got from changing cards unfortunately...

Found this thread agan, forgot I'd tested my XP/Windows 8 gaming box back in 2015, new result now it's up to 16GB memory (unusual for a Core2 system) - woo, 1fps increase! Yes, it can run Crysis - just.

Obviously 'XP settings' would be better, so I decided to ask the question 'Can it run Crysis in stereoscopic 3D using Tridef?'

Gaming PC, stereoscopic 3D - 'XP settings'

Getting a bit slow here, dropping below 30.

However, if I leave it on XP settings and drop the stereoscopic 3D, it returns a nicely respectible 48fps average.

Going to try the shader unlock of the 6950 next, and re-run..

Yes, it definitely can run Crysis. Better hope so with that spec. Average of 74fps.

Bit useless for me though, as the CRT really is best at 1600x1200. At that resolution you can switch on 16xQ and still get 76fps average.

Avg. 91,01FPS, Min. 60,81FPS...
When CPU is too slow (61% max. GPU usage 😁), you have to up the resolution.

OK, 2560x1600 + 16xQ and GPU still isn't maxed out all the time...
Avg. 84,5FPS (7% perf drop vs. 1080p no AA), Min. 57,48FPS.

Bottom line :
4960X OC + GTX 1080 OC* is OP in Crysis, pls use 4k 😁
Damn... this benchmark doesn't support 4k 🙁

*Adjusted fan curve = OC (because Boost 3.0).

interesting thread! long too, is there a 32 bit set up that runs crysis adequately, say 1440*900, medium details, 30+fps on average

(I know i ought to just read them all or do my own tests, just wondering if anyone has direct experience of the 'perfectly adequate' 32 bit system for running crysis! 😀 )

Awwww dang, doesn't seem to support PhysX, I had visions of a 2.8Ghz + TbredB boggling minds by sticking a 8400GT PCI in for PhysX support in addition to the prime pixel banger. (Tested that card against a 3Ghz X2 running physX in software and it was 3 or 4 times faster still, even though it's a weak card)

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I want to say my Radeon HD 4670 (AGP) on my Athlon XP 2800+ played Crysis well enough somewhere around 30fps at 1024-1280x can't remember if med or high details. Hard to remember that far back.

Should probably cleanup this thread and add to first post.

just quick follow up, i can play crysis on athlon x2 250 with hd6450 1gb card, that's fairly budget set up circa 2009-11 but the cpu is pretty fast. its at 1600x900 with most details set high, and a couple at medium (like water) and it's very playable. it's the 32 bit version so the Athlon XP2800+ with The HD 4670 example sounds good to me as it's fairly close to top end for 32 bit era, though i don't have a 32bit machine to match that

Hope the necro is okay. Recently refurbished my 2500k system with a used 980 Ti, and dual boot XP/10 on it.
