I recently acquired a CT3780 AWE32 card. It seems that the digital sound works fine, but all I get is noise when trying to play FM or AWE music. I have uploaded a video here so you can see what I mean: https://youtu.be/IfaJZiUTKnI

Any ideas on what is wrong with it?

Are all solder-points good on the card?

I had a similar problem on an AWE32 I had once. On these cards both FM and AWE are routed from the EMU8000 chip to a DAC and on to the amplifiers. One of the tracks between the EMU8000 and the DAC was broken.

Actually, I did just that last night. No open traces, no shorts between traces. Maybe it's time to just chuck it in the trash.

You can always try to use an external DAC from the SPDIF header, but be aware that not all equipment likes the signalling levels (I think it's 5V).

The voltage can be used to drive an optical output header.

Thanks guys. I think I will try using coax and a voltage divider to see if I get any different output from spdif.

I'm thinking this card may just end up in the trash and I'll use a combination of two of the cards I already have - AWE64, YMF719, CT2770 (SB16), CT1922 (Goldfinch). Any suggestions on which two? Looks like I have to choose between real OPL, 16-bit, no hanging notes, or resource juggling.
