A while ago i got 2 voodoo3 pci cards in the mail, both perfectly working according to the seller. They were well packed but after unpacking i noticed 2 loose little caps.
So one card is missing 2 small caps. Every ramchip seems to have such a cap and i was wondering if it works without them? It is a card with 4 ram chips (16mb sgram version).

The other card works fine and after recapping this one should be fine too (haven't powered it yet). Just wondering if it really needs them.

Years ago i had a v5 5500 agp that was missing a big cap, it worked perfectly fine without it.

I added an image of the same card.

you better add the missing caps as well , they could add to the card's stability so it's a good reason to have them 😉

It's best to replace all 4 i quess? to keep it equal? Unfortunately my soldering skills aren't that great,it seems doable but i messed up things before 😊

I have several so i won't really miss it but it's still a shame if i blow it up because of the missing caps, or kill it in an attempt to save it with my soldering skills 🤣

btw, does anybody know what those pins above the 3dfx logo are for? I've seen these pins also on banshee's, voodoo4 and voodoo5.

Some form of this pin connectors are also found on a lot of other old cards.

Ok, thanx. Never saw one connected to anything.
