Best topic name ever. Can anybody identify this motherboard for me?

3n1hIzUm.jpg

Apparently it has an UMC chipset, but it has been stripped from all the jumpers, and I didn't try to jumper it my self yet. It has VLB and PCI slots. I could only notice that it is an VERSION 2.1 board.

Also, Would an centralized "Please identify my hw" thread be functional?

Looks like a pc chips product to me. My m912 looks just like it except no PCI slots and only 2 72pin SIMM slots.

Main pc: Asus ROG 17. R9 5900HX, RTX 3070m, 16gb ddr4 3200, 1tb NVME.
Retro PC: Soyo P4S Dragon, 3gb ddr 266, 120gb Maxtor, Geforce Fx 5950 Ultra, SB Live! 5.1

It's a PC Chips M915i: http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboard … %20Chips/M915i/

Also just noticed the "SECONDRAY HDD" label on the board 🤣

Hey if it is anything like my m912 then it is a solid product. So far every pcchips board I have bought has been fantastic, as ironic as that may be.

Same here! 🤣 Right now I have two PC Chips boards, an M507 socket 7 Pentium board, and a P25G socket 478 Pentium 4 board. Both are very decent boards, and neither of them have given me any major issues.

Nah, I got it from a friend of mine who recycles stuff 😀

So far from what I see this board seems to be OK. Real cache chips, socketed BIOS and that other chip, no hard wired jumpers, all configurable. I wonder does it have an PS/2 header.

I think the second chip might be a keyboard controller? And if it is anything like the m912 it should support every 486 chip known to mankind 😀 mine has an amd dx4 120 in it and 256k of 15ns Cache. Need to get a case for it still but AT just dont exist around here anymore and I am to cheap to spend $80 on one online.

Oh dear, I think a friend of mine once had that board... Both PCI and VLB on a single board? That's asking for trouble 😀
We found that the VLB slots could only be used if you didn't have any ISA cards. It seemed that all ISA slots were clocked at VLB speed as soon as you used a VLB card. It caused massive instability.

Well, only one way to find out!
Also, where the hell does one find an TAG chip for 1MB L2? 64kx8 seems impossible to find.
