Guys, anyone know, which CPU-Z version run on Windows NT 4.0 SP1? For purpose of old machine I need to run these old Windows (P90 is not fast for XP, 🤣) and I was tried latest v1.73 of CPU-Z, but it does not work.
Then I tried older version down to v1.34.1, but no help. Anyone know?

And anyone know, where the older versions are stored somewhere to download? Or I have to create my own stash of old versions?

CPU-Z 1.51 - http://www.mediafire.com/?mfmxn57hua9nv2m
CPU-Z 1.55 - http://www.mediafire.com/?tdaj1pr0zkb5qqc
CPU-Z 1.57 - http://www.mediafire.com/?g24ffcxkswjro83
CPU-Z 1.61.4 - http://www.mediafire.com/?96reb0a6ow1f15x
CPU-Z 1.63 - http://www.mediafire.com/?7ups8f0ublnd6vu
CPU-Z 1.66.1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?y0slbr17xeivfxr
CPU-Z 1.68 - http://www.mediafire.com/?khu47aa5mf83oqp
CPU-Z 1.70 - http://www.mediafire.com/?hsrc698cer8tzt3
CPU-Z 1.72.1 - http://www.mediafire.com/?jwtfbb28z5mi12s
CPU-Z 1.73 - http://www.mediafire.com/?z9588xqrifwfc8m

Looks like oldversion.com have a pretty nice repository: http://www.oldversion.com/windows/cpu-z/
...makes me wonder, if the v1.57 labeled (Win98) will work on W98. The exe is definitively differnt that the "normal" v1.57... And v1.44 claim WinNT support too??? Hmmm!

I tried 1.52 on NT4 SP6 last week and it worked.

1.73 did not.

I'm not crazy enough to run lower SP levels just because.

You probably do need to run SP6 or whatever - the service packs for NT actually backported new APIs to the system, like NTLMv2, newer DirectX, fibers, etc.

If you don't specifically need CPU-Z, but just want some basic info from the CPUID instruction, then there are other ways.
For example, this opensource project could easily be compiled for NT4 or lower, or even DOS/Win16: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cpuinfo/
(there's even some 16-bit code in there to detect 8086/286/386/486... these CPUs did not have CPUID yet)

Thank you very much, guys! I managed in the end to run a CPU-Z v1.30 on WinNT 4.0 SP1:
Super_Pi_1_M_15_6_133.jpg

It just need the older version of the shlwapi.dll from there: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?shlwapi
...and then in run just fine (despite identifing 83x1.5 as 50x2,5 ...). There are couple of messages, when I tied the more recent CPU-Z versions as well, as the new version of shlwapi.dll:

CPU_Z_SHLWAPI_need.png Etw_Event_Write_need_for_CPU_Z.png Get_System_Default_UILanguage_need_for_CPU_Z.png Register_Device_Notification_A_need_for_CPU_Z.png

So on WinNT 4.0 SP1 one cannot probably hope for more recent CPU-Z. Good that the verification is not need there, that would be a fail...
