Hi all...
I asked about what an Boxed GUS-ACE would be worth on Amibay, and well... You can all imagine how that went.
(stupid me not reading the rules)...

Well.
Getting back to the basic reason why I asked about it.
It seems that retro hardware is more or less a wild market, and none is really knowing anything about what stuff is worth.
The reason for asking is not to see how much I can get from one single item.
As I don't want to cheat anyone out of anything, and I really don't want to cheat my self. Things have to be fair for everyone.

As only one single ACE have been put up for sale in 2015 on ebay, and that card not having any original box or anything.
And was set on sale for that joke of a price, of 200 to 220 dollars. Well... You can all figure out that I really have no clue on what
a boxed and complete ACE is worth. Wich sucks big time.

I could just ask like 250/260 dollars.... Though it seems really unfair. And asking 58 dollars is more or less ceating my self.
The question is... Well... What is it worth.

What have people here on Vogons bought and sold their ACE for? Maby I can narrow it down to what is a fair price for both
potential buyers and me as a seller. Finally. I do not know if it is against the rules to get any rough valuation of stuff.

250 seems like just too much. Better that someone else can afford it, other than those with big money.

Yes, PeterLI is right. It's all about demand at a particular point in time. There are only a few people who really ready to pay a fortune for their vintage PC items and those are the same people at this particular point in time.

Your situation is pretty simple to solve. Just set up an online auction at $200 and it will determinate its real price at that particular point in time when it was listed.

Not sure if I understood you right, but If you just want to sell it to regular folks who can't afford paying too much then I am afraid they will have to contact you directly, but then you will have to pick a person who is honest and really wants it badly and ready to pay a price that you think is fair for you.

Another way to pick a right buyer is to list it with Buy It Now and set a high price with offer allowance. Just like a person below said.

I'd list it as low as you think is fair for you (the minimum you'd like to get out of it) and let the market, as skewed as it gets at times, determine how high it will get at that point in time.

Found that auction on Ebay.... Can't imagine that it can go for such a high price.

That calms me. Must have overlooked that. 🤣 Could not understand that joke of a price anyway.

No memory upgrade, no audio patch cable, no manuals, no CD/floppies, no retail box, and a $319 asking price. No wonder it didn't sell.

@brostenen: Since your GUS ACE looks complete with original box (I've seen the pics you posted elsewhere), I would say a $150 to $175 price range seems reasonable - $60 to $100 was the usual street price for one back in 1995:

Of course, as others have suggested, being willing to negotiate will attract more potential buyers. Whether you do it in a public online auction or in private will be up to you.

Ooohh, the pain......

If you look carefully you will see that the seller kept relisting it, but brought the price down to $238 until he sold it by accepting an offer.

$200 seems reasonable for a CIB Ace. I bet it will sell for that amount and maybe more. I bought my Ace new back in '95 and am glad I kept everything that came with it.

I bought a complete in box GUS ACE in amibay for 50€.

There's no doubt prices are getting ridiculous today. Because of the competition between some collectors, sellers think that they can justify trying to sell ISA cards for hundreds of dollars. There's this bulgarian seller on eBay who tries to sell is stuff justifying his high prices because the items are ultra rare. One of these days i had an exchange with him trying to explain that Pro Audio Spectrum 16 cards are not ultra rare.

I think I will try my luck on amibay then.
EBay seems just too confusing, regarding fee's.
Can a buyer ship money to PayPal?
I have not had any experience regarding this.

In other words. What advices can you all give me when just selling on amibay?
Shippingwise and what else should I write in an sales add on amibay?

I will try with a fixed price at first.

there's nothing special when selling on AmiBay , just put a fixed price, get some postage quotes for EU/US and put them in the thread as well in order to help buyers decide and my advice is to ship it via some registered airmail service so in case post offices screws up you have some kind of protection.
