does this exist?
im not so much concerned about the actual connection as i have the adapters..
but im wondering if its possible to get a keyboard that is modern enough to have a windows key
but still "Vintage" in its appearance.. mostly concerned with "clicky feel" like an old ibm/honeywell/keytronic

when did the windows key start? i guess with windows 95? 4th quarter 1995?

Well, not sure what kind of connector you want, but Unicomp still makes keyboards with the IBM Model M buckle-spring mechanism: https://www.pckeyboard.com/
But it's only USB or PS/2. You can get PS/2 to 5-pin DIN converters to connect them to an old AT though.

If you're looking for keyboards with a 5-pin DIN connector like the original AT, with Windows keys, yes they did exist. I bought one of these as replacement for my 486, which I still use today. Probably from around 1996 or 1997.

I've seen plenty of keyboards like that. In fact, I own one like that (and owned it since the late 90s). There are even Pentium 3 motherboards in AT form factor, and SS7 is also fairly common in that form factor - and they are well into Windows 98 land, not even 95.

As a retro everyday keyboard, I am using one from a Compaq Deskpro EN P-III machine.
It is like a "click" keyboard, just without the "click". Sturdy, and precise key's when typing.

In my closet, I have this Cherry keyboard. Wich is a late-90's. Rubber membrane, wich simulates click-switches.
