I had a very bad condition AT case, from where I rescued the MHz display panel. I would possibly like try to put it into some other case, but I have no idea about these pins. The first pins from left on both rows are probably for the 5 volt power, but what are the others used for?

Then another question. It looks like there would be a battery in the upper left corner. What is that for?

Hmm!!!

What an interesting design! The IC there is quite the mystery, I can't find the datasheet for it. But judging on the presence of a backup battery, I'd wager that the "JIC F51231E" is a microcontroller, and the 3-digit display is multiplexed.

Another person on the Arduino forums appears to have unearthed a similar module, and the local opinion there was similar: the F51231E is some obscure (likely ultra-cheap Chinese designed+made) microcontroller. http://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=12156.0

Edit: Not quite a datasheet, but interesting none the less, especially the last post. Hope you can read Russian! 😜 http://vrtp.ru/index.php?showtopic=25209

I've seen some "programmable" MHz displays where you held the reset button down for a few seconds and the number on the display would rapidly increase to 999 and then wrap around to 000 so you could change the number displayed when the turbo was on or off without messing around with jumpers.

I wonder whether that's what the three lots of two pins are for? Power, turbo LED and reset switch?
