Hi, this is my 1st post.
My English is not good, so sorry about.
Got my Ati card at the flea market. Works! 😀
Rest of rig:
Win98SE + some patch
Mobile Barton @ 2Ghz
Chaintech 7AIA5 E100C
512Mb SDRam
SLI Voodoo2
Badass Guillemot ISIS sound card.
mATX case
Machine works ok but i have no LAN nor USB2.
686B SB have bad reputation. 8235 will do the much better job for my voodoo (V-link).
I need newer mobo with 3.3V AGP voltage and AGP x1 speed in BIOS.
Some VIA KM266/8235 (Biostar M7VIQ) mobo should be ok but I want to play a little bit with my unlocked Barton, so my future mobo must have dividers for 166Mhz FSB.
KT333CF supports 166 but, as I can read, it does not work with 3.3V cards, + there is no mATX KT333 mobos.
Tried to ground A2 pin on Maxx to make it 1.5V. Tested it on my mobo.
It works but freeze shortly after I start 3Dmark99, so I have to roll it back to 3.3V
Question:
If I buy some KT333CF/8235 mobo (ECS K7VTA3) I need to do some AGP voltmod.
How far can I go with AGP voltage without frying KT333 to make my Maxx stable.
Hope I don't have to go much above 2V...
Edit:
Soyo SY-KT333 DRAGON Plus looks similar to K7VTA3.
http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/soyo/SY-KT333DRAGONPlus.htm
Chipset Description
VIA KT333CF / 8235 chipset
Supports 266/333 MHz FSB
Graphics Info
AGP slot supporting 4X AGP
Adjustable voltage from 1.5v to 1.8
So...I will fry that chip with 2 or more volts?
