Thanks again everyone! I plan to put this thing in a proper case - just need to find one that will fit it properly. There are one or two buldging caps on the board that I'd like to replace as well, but I will be throwing up some Unreal benchmark #'s and I can certainly do 3D Mark 2001 @ 640x480 and defaults.

To be fair to Artex he often receives criticism for perceived hoarding of parts, so I think this project demonstrates he truly has the heart of an enthusiast.

Really nice card!!! Would be interesting for what prices rare cards like the V5-6k will change the owner. The V5-5500 is mainly at 80-120...

I have seen also the uploaded video. This 'test' system has nothing to do with silent anymore 😉
It's hard to select the noise from the four AAVID's infront of the highspeed CPU cooler. When i see the POST screen it is clear: 4326 rpm...
For me this cooler is too loud. I don't know the rpm of my socket A cooler but a have also an additional air cooling control 12V to 7V.

I´m very happy to see this part of history is still working, congrats!

I had a few Vodoos and regret to sold my V5 5500 PCI(on the box!), but was for a friend that collects them too, she´s happy!

These KT333 boards are very good, I think that they where the best SocketA for their time at new, not too hot, scales very well on overclock and rock solid. I had a Abit KX7-333R, so good!

I wait for news!! 😀

Is it a 3700 A right? Nice card!

Yep - you're correct. Unfortunately life got a little busy right around the time this card arrived and I haven't been able to update this thread with any juicy benchmarks/screenshots/etc. Hopefully I'll have some more time this Spring.

Dear 3Dfx fans! I also have a V5 6000 with Hank Rework Rev. 3700A. 😀
I have make a video of two games from 2002 (2 years after 3Dfx was gone!) that runs very well on the 6K, Mafia 1 (D3D) and Jedi Knight 2 (OpenGL) with 1280x1024x16 and 2xFSAA! 😀

Mafia 1 on the Voodoo5 6000 AGP
Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast on the Voodoo5 6000 AGP

I hope this is ok to post it here?

I wonder what it could cost for a small batch could be made provided everything needed for the job is still available as nos but with an improved pcb. Certainly would get some people wet if a pci-e version could be designed and be produced.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

No, no that is my only 6K. I have not had it so long.

Do you know how Voodoo cards works ? They seems to rely a lot on 'more chips for doing more work', like a SLI but on the same card. Is it really the case ? Or each of the four chips do different tasks ?
Their cards always had a LOT of chips (except Voodoo3) which would cost a lot of money, while other manufacturers improved performance while staying single-chip

For me this cooler is too loud. I don't know the rpm of my socket A cooler but a have also an additional air cooling control 12V to 7V.

And that's why my Barton is on water (240 rad low fpi with 900 rpm fans), those old socket A CPU cooler fans ran loud like hell and still their cooling was poor. Then again on a voodoo 5 6k I would likely have strapped a 240 mm aluminium heatsink and would've used 2 120mm fans for silence.
