I'l looking for a Geforce ti 4200 at the moment but so far got one one dead, and now i'm looking at the local deal of this MEDION GEFORCE 4 ti4200 of which i've never heard for about 10€ + shipping.

Anyone knows if this is a good model of the ti4200's video cards? Also weird thing, the seller says it's a ti4120 and i've never heard of such thing. Do they exist? Couldn't find much online about this 😜

Medion is a brand that Aldi sells.

Double check the clocks, they often have slightly lower or higher clocks or other differences. Shouldn't be hard to find something on Google.

I'll keep an eye on the clocks. the fact that he states that it's a ti4120 is a bit odd. Most likely a ti4200 modified by Medion in some way, shape or form.

Yea Medion for example made the Radeon 9800XXL or something like that. It's similar to the real thing, slightly different clocks and custom PCB and cooler.

I have that card (128 mb model) and it just works. I am happy with it but didn't try overclocking, and also didn't check the clocks. Anyway it's obviously several times more powerful than GF4 MX.

Thanks for the replies!
Is 10€ + shipping (2€ to 5€) a good deal? Looking at current prices of geforce 4 ti on ebay seems to be..

I picked up one of those cards awhile back in 128mb AGP 8x flavor. Seems to work well from the little I used it, I like my Ti 500 better.

I have this Medion GF4-ti4200. It runs cool and quiet. I used it for my "GF4-UT99-Woes" tread.
Not much to say about the card, other than it is ok. Seems like a sturdy card.
Good signal quality too.

Just as they did with the Radeon 9800 version.... (I have that too)

For everyone that are qurious on the 9800-XXL, I can say that it is a beast of a card.
It has one flaw though.... It runs hot as hell, so the cooler need to be swapped.
Or the card might die before time.

Really good to know!

Seems that the seller lives in the same town as i do! I'll save on shipping costs and i'll get the card for 10€ if all goes well!

Geforce 3 TI500 and Geforces 4 TI in good condition don't seem to be easy to find on ebay, and they cost a lot. A lot at least to me for what i am willing to pay.
Actually i think you can't find Geforces 3 TI500 on ebay anymore. If you do, they will cost you an arm and a leg.

I am watching the descent VGA market (Geforce 1 to 7) from time to time, and looking to Geforce 4 on ebay-germany, i see lot's of MX versions...
Then, also a lot of the Medion Ti4200, you've posted. I see several, only for a few euros, seems that nobody wants these cards, so cheap as chips...
Sometimes, you can catch also a MSI or Albatron or something else between 5 and 15€.

I saw a GF3-Ti500 on ebay a few day ago, but a you said, you need money like an arm & a leg 😊 I think, the end price was around 35€.

Really rare are the Ti's 4400, 4600, and the 8x versions Ti4800 and T4800-SE. For example, i see (here in germany) only one Ti4600 for 99€... really too much.
Actually i see one Ti4800-SE for 10€. This should be fair. The Ti4800-SE is simply a Ti4400, only with AGP8x support...

Once, i've got also a MEDION GF3-Ti200 on ebay... it cost only 1€, with shipping then only 3,40€...

Are GF4-ti4400 to ti4600 not nearly all dead, because of too much heat through heavy use?
I remember something about 4200's having a longer life duo to this fact. (Might be wrong)
If so. Grab some 4200's before they are the only ones left and begin to rise in value.
Or begin to rise in value, because of the "Vogons-effect". 😉

I'd prefer to find GF4 with DVI, as it's typical for them, and well-known brand to lower the risks. The price $10-20 is common for mass old cards on USA/EU markets. If you'll wait or seek more, you may find cheaper.

They are good bought one back in 2003 from a friend. He had a medion branded p4 2.53 computer with that card. It worked well. He sold it when he bought an FX 5900XT which I bought from him when he got a 6600GT AGP 🤣.

The nice thing about these medion cards is the expansion header on top. These boards were all made my MSI as custom orders. The top connector wires up to the video encoder used for TV-output, and unlike basically all other nvidia cards where the header is present on the pcb but the port never soldered on, it provides full 15khz RGB output. Medion always wired these up with an expansion bracket with a full rgb-scart socket. For anyone in euro land that wants to hook up a graphics card to a CRT tv, this is definitly the way to go. Custom wiring to hook it up to a sony BVM/PVM or other CRT with rgb inputs for anyone in NTSC territories is also a great option. I'm still that no board vendor ever wired it up and provided at least an optional bracket, since its present on almost every nvidia pcb design from geforce 3/4 upto geforce 7 series cards (confirmation of said "fact" to be determined by this community I hope).

You were right, clocks are different but i couldn't care less, it was only 10€ 😁

Clocks are a bit lower than the default Geforce TI 4200, but it's nothing you would notice much, 2 or 3 frames at most. Also, RivaTuner exists. The card performs flawlessly nonetheless and seems to be very well preserved!

This one is interesting in a way, as the GF4-MX 460 was seemingly discontinued quite rapidly.

I have one too, but it doesn't have its original HSF anymore (might have removed it myself? I dunno..but it shoudl still be functional (tested it))

Hello everybody, I think I should mention that the Geforce 4MX is no true Geforce4. It's more like an enhanced version of the Geforce2.
There's not wrong with that, both are fine DX7 cards. Geforce3 (any version) and Geforce4 non-MX do also support DX8(.1).

which video card is better, geforce 4 mx 440 or the geforce 3?
Game-Debate: Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB vs Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 4000

And here from Vogons: Geforce 2 MX vs MX200 vs MX400

Edit: I'm officially confused now! The GeForce4 MX Product Overview claims the card has DX 8.1 support. Maybe that's just a typo ?
- There's also a GeForce4 Ti Product Overview. And one for GeForce2 MX,Geforce2 TI and GeForce2 MX Mac Edition.
Oh, and there is also an overview for the Geforce3 TI, of course. 😁
