Welcome, loved your photos. Very nice PC. I especially like that you and your friend are using real dial-up modems to play online. 😀 Nice touch, having your wife pick up the phone line while you're playing. 🤣.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

Welcome. And that is a nice system. The only question that comes to my mind, are about the chipset.
What revision is it and can it cache all that ram?

About Diablo. If the ISO's are a copy of you'r original disc, then Diablo will ask for a original pressed disc.
If you try to use a direct copy of the original pressed disc, it will not read that.

It is written on the chips.... I have found some good reading on MVP3 and ALI-V ragarding cacheable Ram.

Haste + retrocomputing == *Wheres the trouble* 🤣

But anyway, nice rig you got there.

Just a few things I did notice:
- K6-III is not the same as K6-III+, except when running at the same speed. Just a minor thing here, but it can make a difference in some cases.
- Your ATX case is one of the earliest ones, build for Slotted boards mostly. The fan of your PSU and the fan of your CPU HSF will compete for air as they will probably be trying to pull air from different directions.
With a K6-III+ combines with such beefy cooling, this probably won't be noticeable, but cases like yours are probably best reserved for slotted boards.

Whats missing in your collections?

Can be gotten around with a little cardboard, make a little duct for the cpu fan

there is no vents on the other side of the PSU and more then enough room the cooler never gets hot any how
but if i have to i would try flipping the fan to suck and push to the PSU...

OMG, the feels!!!! I had that exact CD-Writer drive back in my Pentium II PC days. I almost miss it! Brings a tear to my eyes thinking about it! The nostalgia! That was a very good burner in its day.

funny thing is one of my other friends is like "why even build that computer you can just run in on a new system"
i was like well what the hell is the fun in that now? this why everything is compatible and will work and you not messing with a DOS box or trying to get old windows 98 games to work... even harder when your running a 64bit os and windows 10..

Yes.... And he will say it untill he have seen enough people run the old games.
Then he will realize how hard it is, and he will be pointed to Vogons. 🤣

But seriously, if you decide to let those 2 motherboards go, let me know. We can work something out.

is it wrong that I like the Pentium Pro a lot more than the K6 III?

Absolutely not. The 1mb pentium pro cost $2700 each if you bought 1000. Accounting for inflation, that ~$4000 US today. Plus they are pretty and gold. And you can run then in 2, 4, & 6-way setups. Hell, in today's market the 333mhz overdrive commands a VERY hefty price premium. I dare say its worth 2x the K6-3.

That said, the K6 has its merits, just not in my eyes.

yes i need to fined some sweet case badges for it. some 3dfx voodoo and AMD case badges would look nice!

for how much you paid for the 200Mhz 1mg cash vers of the Pentium pro they put it in a cheep package the thin aluminum heat spreader they have on it is week and will warp when there is to much heat i had 2 that where warped and no longer working.

The only thing holding me back form completing the Pentium Pro is the lack of AGP video the only video card i have for it is a ATI 9100 and driver support for it SUCKS! all most every game i try tells me there is no 3d accelerator and i cant run NT4.0 at all with that card no drivers 🙁 and windows 2000 seems to be running slow ish...
i don't know what i want to do with it yet i love the ida of having one of them running is nice.. I was going to have it run a PFsense but the OS will not install... so i have to shop for the fasts PCI card i can fined but there $$$$ on Ebay...

i had a chance to get a matched par for Pentium II over driver 333 5 years a go for $120 😠
