Really, any 720K bootable floppy disk should work. Stick it in your 386 and use the command "format a: /s" and it should boot.

Next thing is to look into the second floppy drive. Unfortunately it isn't able to read any floppy disks 🙁

Failing cleaning, it is VERY common for ps/2 floppy drives to need new caps. I have a pile of like 5-6 drives that need repair. I figure I'll do it all at once.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I will try to clean it first - about the caps: I did read about that too, will check that today hopefully.
