Bought a couple of these adapters, one works, the other doesn't. The PC will wait for a while before giving up on locating the non-working adapter. There's not much to these things, I take it there's nothing I can do? I already tried cleaning excess flux off the board, sometimes that has caused issues for me.

Also while on the subject, I've heard conflicting claims that using SD cards like this is a bad idea because SD cards aren't tough enough to handle Windows. What if you disable virtual memory? How long might a quality SD card last? Right now I'm using a 32GB SDHC card.
