Hey guys, just a quick question, having trouble finding info online.

So from what I can gather, it would be period accurate to have an "Intel Inside" sticker (or decal, or logo, or what-have-you) on a 486 computer's case, correct?

Well I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's any significance between the different colors: http://www.cpu-world.com/Images/uploaded/0000 … /L_00006366.jpg

I don't know if that site allows hotlinking, so just in case, it's the second to last post on this page.

I've also seen Pentium labels in red.

For sure a friend's Compaq 486DX-33 had it, I don't remember the color, I think orange. I remember having a conversation with another friend talking about that sticker and asked me: "But is there the "Pentium" word too?" and I sadly said no; he had a just released Pentium 75 or similar I didn't even know it existed back then.

Found a 1991 ad: https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3239/2882647473 … ef62eba17_o.jpg

Second that, here's a Toshiba 486dx4 laptop:

BTW, I guess you could look at different laptops to see if there is any logic behind the colors.

I have an old Dell with a pentium mmx that has the red sticker, sounds like they put the red one on just about everything back then

I had an AST Advantage! 486SX/33 back in the days, and it had a blue "Intel Inside" sticker.

Hmm, neither of my Compaq 486s (LTE Elite) have stickers, but the LTE 5280 has a black Pentium one.

So far, evidence points towards DX having red, SX having blue, and green remains a mystery...

I didn't think 386s would have them, that's interesting.

Looks like it was introduced in 1991.

No mention of colour for the first few logos though, perhaps that was OEM's choice?

Here's a DX/2 50 laptop with a blue sticker so unfortunately that theory doesn't hold up.

Another DX/2 50, white sticker:

I thought maybe SL chips would have green stickers (you know, energy saving = green) but I have found no evidence of that.

My DX desktop has a blue sticker and my SX laptops are having red stickers. Maybe the color was up to the manufacturers ?

Those Pentium stickers also came in blue, red, and I think green as well.

I'm never sure, until I make the post and later see the image replaced with "NO HOTLINKING ALLOWED" =)
I know back in the day, when bandwidth was (probably) much more expensive, it was a bigger deal, but I still see it from time to time.

Also wasn't sure because the GIS only showed the thumbnail from the actual page, and not the full image, but that might just be because of the script the page is using.
