I have MSI MS-4145 (ver. 1) board that does not have any cache chips installed. Could that prevent it from booting?
I installed AM486DX2 66MHz CPU onto it, verified working FPM SIMM sticks and tried both with PCI (Trio64) and ISA (WD) graphics cards but no POST.
Verified jumper settings for CPU many times, seems to be correct. Board looks to be in perfect condition, I removed the barrel battery due to a bit of bulding (but no leakage at all), no damage (spill or mechanical) but nothing.
Also tested the AMI BIOS chip on another ALi M1489 board, it POST'ed without problems so BIOS is not an issue also..

Any ideas if the missing cache is not an issue?

Many 3Dfx and Pentium III-S stuff.

All my boards POST without cache. Regardless of the cache jumper setting. In fact, I don't recall these boards even having a jumper setting for no cache?
