All right.... This is my new build.
I had an 5x86-133 setup wich was beginning to run really unstable, so I got an Lucky Star ls486e C2 instead.
I have just finished this new build a couple of minutes ago, and I think this is running a bit better.
I wanted to aim for eighter an Dx2-66 or Dx2-80 on this build, though I can not get it to run with 3v CPU's.
The previous owner have promised that it will work with 3v CPU's, and I guess I will eventually figure it out.
I think that I am the one to blame, and that there is nothing wrong with the motherboard at all.
Anyway....
The build is made from the following parts.
- Lucky Star ls486e Rev. C
- Intel 486dx2-66 (Write through)
- Brand new "New Old Stock" 486-CPU cooler.
- 16mb 72-Pin 60ns Parity Memory (x36)
- Old AT case, with 3-digit LED, and Turbo button.
- 3.2gb IDE drive.
- Cirrus Logic CL-5446 2mb PCI video card.
- Media Vision Jazz16 based soundcard.
- Floppy and DVD drive.
I have finished this build today, and done some modding of some of the parts.
It is running nice and dandy, giving "144" in norton sysinfo. (basic fast benchmark in order to test turbo button)
First up. I have used a good ATX power supply from A-Open. With this I have used a simple ATX to AT converter.
I have modded the power-button cables with somme bigger plugs, because the case button's terminals were too big.
So I had to do some soldering today.... Fun. 😜
I have attached all images as inline, so a bigger one can be chosen by clicking on them.
Solder work done.... Quite happy with the result.
Then I turned my attention towards giving power to the fronpanel led. I modded the led, in order to show 66 and
then I used this cable to give 5 volt to the led. Originally, the power came from the PSU it self.
All set correct up, and connected with the cable.
Working correctly....
To be continued....
Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....
