Hi all.
I'm building a "new" system and I really need some help.

The motherboard is a ExpertBoard EXP8551 Ver 1.2. The board is in great shape but is missing it's Dallas RTC.
In the board manual, it says it uses a DS12887. On the PCB itself, it is labeled DS12887A. And, in a ebay impulse buy, I ordered a DS12887+ (when I realized it said + it was already too late and It will take about 1 month to arrive.)
My question is, will this Dallas DS12887+ chip work on my motherboard? Or should I buy another one? If so, which one?

Thank you

A few results here say yes including this result where someone replaced a DS1287 with a 12887+ https://www.computing.net/answers/dos/dos-mod … test/17326.html (he's asking for help getting his modem working in the thread, but that problem is unrelated.)

Personally I would not be worried at all about giving this a try.

Maybe see if the + has its own datasheet or if Maxim provides the same old non-+ datasheet. If separate, it might talk about the difference, or if they link to the same old one then assume it is insignificant.

I found one claim that the + means lead-free but I cannot confirm.

Yes, I always ramble this much.

No need to believe claims, these chips have documentation from manufacturer 😀
